Job purpose: As the Senior Manager of Merchandising, you help to create merchandising strategies that drive the Arc’teryx product and merchandising vision. You drive global DTC assortment concepts and buying strategies that support consumer-centric brand storytelling, create meaningful retail experiences, and increase branded space productivity. You are an expert of the Arc’teryx retail consumer and understand how to guide trends based on consumer data and feedback.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
⏵ You build compelling seasonal and on-going merchandising strategies that will drive the brand vision, achieve sales targets and satisfy consumers for North America and Europe. 

⏵ You lead and empower the team to execute the seasonal merchandising strategies

⏵ You lead the team to create differentiated product strategies by channel, region, format at scale  

⏵ You ensure the financial success of multiple business units by meeting or exceeding retail sales & gross margin sales plans 

⏵ You evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results 

⏵ You skillfully analyze an ambiguous problem, use rigorous logic to formulate a rational for the decisions and take action leveraging cross-functional resources 

⏵ You take the lead in communicating business priorities to the cross-functional team across multiple seasons 

⏵ You communicate priorities within I2C and ensure they are understood and actioned on 

⏵ You work with the Product Team to define, edit and amplify assortments that are on brand and sales driving 

⏵ You have a great product eye and lead the prioritization of product categories and models; take into account limited space, resources, brand priorities

⏵ You partner with merchandise planning to translate product strategies into numbers

⏵ You partner with planning leadership to manage and control inventory levels to optimize sales, gross margin, and sell through of product

⏵ You effectively hire, coach, lead, and develop a high performing merchant team

Additional experience, education and/or skills:
⏵ Required

⏵ You have a university degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience

⏵ You have 7-10 years of experience in a related industry as a Buyer or Merchandising leader

⏵ You are familiar with the Arc’teryx brand and products 

⏵ You have the ability to work in a global matrix organization

⏵ You have a strong understanding of outdoor retail marketplace 

⏵ You have strong organizational and analytical skills 

⏵ You are a strong communicator and presenter 

⏵ You set a clear vision, align your team around common objectives, and foster commitment to these objectives

⏵ You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions

⏵ You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
