About the job

Job purpose: As the Merchant, you influence and execute retail merchandising strategy and vision.  You drive global DTC assortment concepts and buying strategies that support consumer-centric brand storytelling, create meaningful retail experiences, and increase branded space productivity. You are an expert of the Arc’teryx retail consumer and understand how to guide trends based on consumer data and feedback.Key responsibilities and accountabilities: ! You lead the execution of the DTC merchandising vision through how you assort and buy the line at all levels of the hierarchy! You create seasonal merchandise plans that achieve financial targets, support the design vision, and satisfy consumer needs! You create inspiring colour stories and flow strategies for the B2C channel! You lead the testing of merchandising and colour strategies ! You help to present key DTC priorities at I2C stage gates to ensure execution of the channel needs! You work with the Product Team to define, edit, and amplify DTC product assortments that drive brand and sales ! You collaborate with B2B, Demand Planning, and Supply Planning partners to support DTC channel strategies ! You partner early in the I2C process with marketing to ensure support of the consumer initiatives relevant to the DTC channel through model/article investment! You read, analyze and respond to seasonal, quarterly, weekly trends and react quickly by working with cross-functional partners to shift store allocations and securing additional stock! You inspire and lead the merchandising team to hit targets, mitigate risk and push through obstacles to ensure an exceptional consumer experience! You analyze how merchandising decisions and results impact sales and PGP! You analyze historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities by category and product type! You have a great product eye and lead the prioritization of product categories and models; taking into account limited space, resources, brand priorities! You partner with merchandise planning to translate product strategies into numbers! You partner with the planning manager to manage and control inventory levels to optimize sales, gross margin, and sell through of product! You create sales reports and historical re-caps to analyze and communicate business performance ! You create localized assortments to satisfy regional differences of the Arc’teryx consumer ! You manage relationships with specified outside vendors and choose complimentary products to the seasonal Arc’teryx assortmentsAdditional experience, education and/or skills:! You have a university degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience! You have 7+ years of experience in a related industry as a Buyer or Merchandiser ! You have the ability to work in a global matrix organization! You have a strong understanding of outdoor retail marketplace ! You have strong organizational and analytical skills ! You are a strong communicator and presenter ! You set a clear vision, align your team around common objectives, and foster commitment to these objectives! You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions! You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity! You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration! You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement! You seek the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right! Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it!
