Job purpose: As a Creative Director of Design, you lead the creation of innovative and exceptional consumer product concepts for a world class global design brand. Your energy for relevance and disruption continuously evolves the Arc’teryx product direction by guiding Design teams to establish and maintain product leadership positions in the dynamic outdoor-to-outside space. Your strong consumer-facing product vision delivers resolved and cohesive product design direction aligned with our product merchandising strategy. Your role is to spark the brand with bold, creative vision that will establish Arc’teryx at the global forefront of innovation and style. Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
⏵ You work in partnership with Global Product Merchandising to ensure the product design vision aligns with the global merchandising strategy
⏵ You work in partnership with R&D leadership to ensure relevant innovation concepts are executed appropriately in seasonal product launches
⏵ You build, coach and guide a high-performing Design team, driving inspiration and stoke to create and evolve world class innovative and strategic consumer concepts
⏵ You incorporate and transform key consumer and market learning insights into consumer product concepts by leading early idea-to-concept ideation to ignite new concept exploration
⏵ You inspire and guide product design leaders to ensure that all market concepts, including sport and lifestyle, integrate seamlessly and consistently to deliver a strong, global consumer product experience complimented with strong strategy for regional/local relevance
⏵ You create space for your product teams to balance a high degree of technical innovation with a high degree of progressive styling to achieve aesthetic design breakthroughs, relevant functional product and long-term consumer value
⏵ You lead seasonal product creative strategies through the idea-to-concept process, working collaboratively with Product, Retail and Brand Directors to ensure design vision lands effectively in consumer concept touch points
⏵ You maintain a high-level view across the global business; you understand the complexities, dependencies, and opportunities beyond your immediate team and contribute to cross-functional business strategy as required
⏵ You design and deliver compelling and persuasive presentations, to audiences of varying levels, size, and backgrounds, including to team members or senior leadership teams
⏵ You work in collaboration with Design Operations on budget planning, timelines and allocation to ensure creative resourcing and projects align around business objectives and annual budget
⏵ You identify the right product partnerships for specific projects and manage agency/consultant relationships through execution Additional experience, education and/or skills required:
⏵ You have 12+ years of experience as a Design Director, Creative Director, or a similar role in the apparel industry, including 5+ years in a people leadership role
⏵ You have a knowledge and understanding of the outdoor/fashion/apparel industry and the disciplines for which Arc’teryx design products for
⏵ You have proven people leadership experience and a passion for coaching, mentoring, and guiding a team of creative leaders and contributors
⏵ You have proven leadership success with concepted, strategized and launched global consumer product concepts
⏵ You have a strong understanding of softgoods product design, softgoods manufacturing and supply chain
⏵ You display fanatical attention to detail and possess the organizational skills required to manage multiple projects and deliverables across different teams and organizations
⏵ You have a passion for sustainable design and style
