About the job

As Design Developer 2, you are responsible for building fully resolved solutions that are in alignment with the original intent and vision of the product design. You are a passionate builder of product and bring your curiosity to find creative solutions for a better way to innovate product. In close collaboration with cross functional teams, you contribute to concept development from ideation through to seasonal inline. You Do Right through responsible and sustainable design.Key responsibilities and accountabilities: ! You contribute to Product Design by developing unique and resolved solutions through patterning and concept prototyping, ensuring alignment with Arc’teryx design philosophies, original intent and vision for the product! You produce production level and resolved garments, along with the supporting documentation to ensure scalable construction in a bulk production environment! In collaboration with Designers, Pattern Makers and Product Developers, you create, document and communicate new concepts, construction processes, techniques and manufacturing solutions that meet Arc’teryx product ideals! You build partial or complete concept prototypes to allow solutions to be tested, reviewed, and validated ! You collaborate with Pattern Makers and Product Developers on seasonal projects as needed ! You influence and contribute to Design in developing standards and ensuring consistency across all styles within the line plan, including working with Pattern Making, Product Development and Fit & Pattern Engineering to validate and implement standards! You test various materials to assess suitability for various construction techniques and end uses, providing recommendations on final selection as well as documenting information and results throughout the process! You support in the creation of field and wear test samples by providing direction and requests to the Cutting team as needed! You support Senior Design Developers with special projects as needed ! You assist the Sample and Design teams and respond to problems as they arise! You support the onboarding and training of new Design Developer hires! You are responsible to compile project scope, activities, and expenditures, of projects deemed eligible for submission to funding programs (SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACS, and so forth)Additional experience, education and/or skills required:! You have 4+ years’ experience working in a technical design environment (ideally apparel)! You have a diploma or degree in Fashion Design or equivalent experience! You have previous pattern making experience, particularly CAD experience with Gerber! You have strong sewing, building, and pattern making skills! You are proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator, with the ability to pick up new computer applications quickly! You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right ! You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity! You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration! You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement!
