As the Director of Trend Insights, you enable Arc’teryx to stay ahead of global cultural trends that will inform evolved strategic business concepts that build upon our brand legacy, are rooted in our brand vision, and ultimately deliver creative solutions to consumer needs and desires. Arc’teryx is a design-led brand and your role is instrumental in driving that vision through providing an in-depth understanding and visual articulation of consumer behavior and shifting market landscapes within the future context of the brand. Your pulse on the trends driving the behaviour of both current and potential consumers makes you a key foundational contributor to the research, framing, and creation of ground-breaking consumer concepts.Key responsibilities and accountabilities: ! You build, coach, and guide a high-performing insights team, inspiring them to deliver multi-dimensional and insightful understanding of shifting cultural trends and consumer/market landscapes! You build, lead, and manage an insights process framework designed to provide the foundational components necessary to create new or evolved consumer concepts within the overall Arc’teryx I2C creative process! You lead and drive major research studies in chosen strategic areas while utilizing modern ethnographic methodologies and observational research analysis method! You lead and manage a visual mapping process to bring structured intel and multi source insights to life! You lead and ensure Arc’teryx has a continuing robust insights and analysis plan and future research pipeline across all consumer focus areas! You participate and contribute as a key influencer throughout the continuing stages of the I2C process and maintain a key creative role throughout the process! You are a key member of the Arc’teryx Creative Leadership Team and contribute to broader organizational strategy and planning Additional experience, education and/or skills:! You have 10+ years’ experience leading marketing, research, and/or communications teams in a global apparel company! You have a degree in marketing, communications, journalism, design, or other creative fields! You have a proven track record of building and leading high performing insights and/or communications professionals! You lead by example, building rapport and high trust with key stakeholders! You have an in-built ability to decipher fact from fiction in your analysis of shifting consumer and market landscapes and a talent for bringing that analysis to life through visual and textual nuance! You have a strong awareness of the Arc’teryx brand, product, and consumers! You have a strong understanding of the outdoor apparel and lifestyle industry and you understand the retail landscape, including current trends and innovations! You set a clear vision, align your team around common objectives, and foster commitment to these objectives! You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions! You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity! You are able to balance autonomy and collaboration! You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement! You seek the best (but sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right!
