Carve Designs is a beach lifestyle apparel brand. We are based in Mill Valley, California and sell women’s apparel to specialty retailers around the country.

We are seeking an individual who could win a management role at a larger company but who instead wants to play a major role in the success of an early-stage business and the development of a lifestyle apparel brand. The ideal candidate will be able to both set design strategy for the business with creative, break-through ideas as well as ‘roll their sleeves up’. You will need strong organizational and interpersonal skills to excel in this role. You will need to be a highly motivated, do-it-yourself individual who thrives in fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Primary responsibilities of the designer are to provide design work of beach lifestyle apparel including and not limited to: active apparel, swimsuits, surf shorts, rash guards, lifestyle clothing, lifestyle jackets, and sweaters. You are accountable for the creative production of the new product designs each season. Specifically, you are responsible for:

1. Design the garments for each season by working closely with Merchandising and the Creative Director to steer the creative direction of the seasonal line plan. Actively work to promote the product vision and brand positioning across the product division
2. Development and management of the Tech Packs for all garments
3. Management of the color and fabric approval for each season
4. Management of all aspect of product development from concept, through prototype, 1st fit, Photo Sample, Salesman sample through to fit approval
5. Create design/concept boards to communicate design and color direction for each season.
6. Ability to lead fit discussions on fit model and work closely with technical designer to attain desired look and fit
7. Able to create and work with a design schedule to ensure timely completion of the product development calendar
8. Must be able to measure garments and understand garment construction, including a detailed knowledge of seam construction and types of stitches
9. Consistently identify opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency
10. Work with production and creative to source materials and develop innovative fabrications
11. Travel to Asia to work closely with factories
12. Travels for consumer/product research as approved by Creative Director. Presents trip reports which contain visuals and written summaries of current trends pertinent to our industry.
13. Ability to create and color cads for use in tech packs, presentations and retail catalogs. Responsible for the management and the update of changes in the cads as the line develops.
