Job Description

Carve Designs is a beach lifestyle apparel brand based in Mill Valley, California. We sell women’s swim & lifestyle apparel to specialty retailers around the country. We have an established business online and wholesale, and are now growing our direct to consumer business.

We are currently looking to add an Apparel Technical Designer / Patternmaker to our growing team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Primary responsibilities of the Technical Designer are to develop, manage, maintain, and enhance the quality of fit and make of all CARVE DESIGNS product which includes: swimwear (including surf shorts, rash guards, swim separates, & coverups) and lifestyle apparel (active apparel, knits, sweaters, wovens, dresses, outerwear, and accessories).

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT:
1. FITTINGS: maintaining fit schedule, monthly measure and analyze fit model. Proposed schedule 2-3 days a week for fittings.
2. FIT COMMENTS: measure or re-measure garments when necessary & complete fit comments, sketches and diagrams, updating measurements, and grading.
3. TECH PACKS: create new tech packs in conjunction with Design; construction, measurements, & grading
4. BLOCK SPECS: create new block tech packs in conjunction with Design & Field Patternmakers, update seasonally as needed.
5. CALENDAR: reviewing and achieving calendar dates & deadlines
6. COMMUNICATION: Correspond to all vendors and answer promptly regarding fit questions. Reach out to Designer for relevant info

PROJECTS MAY INCLUDE:
1. QA: Evaluating QA concerns, spot measuring garments to problem solve
2. PRODUCT QUALITY: continue to enhance and improve product quality and consistency for our consumer/customer
3. FIT STANDARDS: continue to evaluate fit standards and base size
4. GRADING: continue to evaluate grading standards for consistencies

Job Requirements

SKILLS NEEDED:
The ideal candidate will be able to manage and maintain the Fit development process of entire line. You will need strong organizational and technical skills to excel in this role. You will need to be a highly motivated, do-it-yourself individual who thrives in fast-paced and creative environment.

1. PATTERNMAKING CAPABILITIES (wovens, outerwear, and swim is a plus)
2. TECHNICAL DESIGN CAPABILITIES (photos, sketches, diagrams)
3. DETAIL ORIENTED
4. SELF MOTIVATED/SELF MANAGED
5. GOOD WRITTEN COMMUNICATION
6. ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR
7. STRONG KNOWLEDGE OF WOMEN’S FIT
