Storm Mountain Publishing is based in Boulder, Colorado and prides itself on its two industry-leading media brands FREESKIER and SNOWBOARD. Launched in 1998, Storm Mountain is an entrepreneurial company that has thrived in the competitive snow-media landscape through ingenuity, innovation and a work-hard/play-harder mentality.
POSITION SUMMARY //
FREESKIER is looking for a managing editor to help oversee magazine and digital editorial and partnership workflow. In addition to managing the timely production of FREESKIER’s print magazine (bi-annually), the managing editor is also responsible for content assignments and development, as well as writing stories ranging from gear reviews and destination pieces to athlete profiles and features. This individual will also contribute to FREESKIER’s website (Freeskier.com) and social media properties, and will work with our sales/marketing team on custom-content partnerships and related projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES //
• Manage workflow for FREESKIER properties and custom partnerships
• Assign projects and deadlines to staffers and contributors; execute on time
• Manage editorial budgets including staff and freelancer fees, travel etc.
• Work with art director to oversee layout of the magazine
• Contribute to magazine editorial process and overall editorial directives
• Work with sales team to develop custom projects for partner clients
• Assist the entire editorial staff in print and digital-related tasks
• Work directly with manufacturers to collect products for reviews and tests
• Travel to trade shows, ski tests, competitions, etc.
COMPENSATION //
• $60-65k year commensurate with experience
• Hours: 40+ hours a week, full-time
• Location: Storm Mountain Publishing office (Boulder, CO)
