About the job
Cobian is looking for a footwear designer to work with the current team in applying their skills and talents in designing new footwear in multiple categories and markets. The designer will utilize their understanding of trends, market conditions, customer expectations, and applying the core Cobian DNA to all product concepts. This position will be able to maximize creativity as it is involved in design for Men’s, Women’s, and Youth Styles under the direction of an upper management team in designing key products within identified markets and target segments.
Responsibilities:
• Create 2D cad file renderings of designs and components quickly and effectively.
• Create all needed artwork files and vector files needed for overseas partners in producing molds and component molds for designs.
• Concept generation though brainstorming meetings and other creative processes.
• Follow and adhere to the calendar timeline requirements of the design process.
• Help select colors, materials, and patterns for new line development or current product updates.
• Research design trends, new materials, and technologies to be applied to footwear.
• Work closely with the Product Developer to provided necessary files such as scaled layout files, cross-sectional files, and any additional communication supporting files for the sampling process.
• Process design changes in a timely and accurate manner.
• Work with the marketing team in design application and ensuring design traits are applied.
• Review product details to ensure product execution meets the design aesthetics as well as commercially acceptable quality standards.
Education/ Year’s Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Footwear Design, Fashion, Product Design or have a minimum of 1-3 years of Footwear or related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite. (Illustrator and Photoshop are key)
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to take direction from the sales team to create a CAD presentation to help solidify an order.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
• Strong sense of color and design.
• Confidence to work with others in a creative environment.
• Good understanding of the footwear production process a plus but not necessary.
