Principal Tooling Engineer
South Korea & Tooling Engineering
The Tooling Engineering (TE) team is a part of the Footwear Manufacturing and Engineering team in the Global Sourcing and Manufacturing organization and based in Busan, Korea. The TE team is a key partner in the overall process of footwear development and manufacturing. TEs are key in enabling our footwear to become a reality.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Principal Tooling Engineer. This role will use specialized knowledge and experience to tackle critical technical problems in the area of Mold Design and Manufacturing. While our partners obsess the details, you will drive the overall tooling excellence that will deliver perfect quality, on-time and at cost to our consumers. You will ensure standards are met and best practices are applied. You will be accountable for driving progress at the mold partners and factories against our strategic initiatives. You will strive to enable world-class manufacturing of tooling thru our partners to produce the world's best product. We expect the Principal Tooling Engineer to be considered as the functional tooling expert and to provide guidance and input to the Manufacturing & Engineering leadership accordingly.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
You will work on providing expert support for tool manufacturing across Korean partners. Effective implementation of global strategic initiatives and unlocking Manufacturing Partners’ capacity and performance. Driving programs to help the overall reduction of waste from tooling and increasing of productivity in bottoms manufacturing. Work with factory partners and mold shops to ensure Tooling standards are clear and consistently adhered to. You will help drive factory mold shops into future ready mold manufacturing processes that are relevant in today’s mold manufacturing process, including tracking, and reporting of KPI’s and metrics. You will lead Tooling related projects on a regional level working with other teams. Tooling Support in product related meetings if needed and provide manufacturing feedback through product creation process, identify potential risks and manufacturability challenges, drive issue resolution. Facilitate training and ensure comprehension of Nike Manufacturing Best Practices.

You will be working for the Partner Manufacturing Engineering Senior Director. Interacting closely with Global Tooling Director in WHQ and across Asia manufacturing locations. Locally you will work with Korea factory partner engineering and mold manufacturing facilities. You will be strongly connected to the Global Tooling Engineers across the globe.
