The NDDC Kids Merchant Director role is mainly responsible for the GC digital Marketplace. The role partners with Nike Kids Consumer Merchandising leaders, cross functional partners and cross MPU stakeholders to adopt, plan, build and trade a consumer right assortment.
Who We Are Looking For
We’re looking for consumerists with an affinity for product that enjoy the energy of moving at the pace of retail and the consumer. A successful Merchandising Director will thrive and contribute to an inclusive, positive, and progressive team dynamic, as well as manage and lead in a way that elevates the total team.
This role is responsible for geo seasonal product adoption, and building consumer right assortments for the digital marketplace, leveraging historical data, analytics and real-time market feedback to inform the future (coming seasons) while winning today (trading real-time)! Furthermore, this role will be leading the product merchandising strategy for the key consumer segments and business dimensions, focused on basketball, dance, running, and lifestyle.
The candidate should possess solid retail acumen and analytical abilities and a solid understanding of retail environments starting with digital. They are comfortable overseeing and advising the work of individual contributors within a structured coaching framework, in addition to being a leader among their peers!
What You Will Work On
You will on-board the seasonal plans including product strategy, flow, consumer journey and key moment plans, including D11, 6.18, CNY, IWD. You will understand related aspects of the business and marketplace in making your plans, including coordinating between merch, brands and digital platform teams.
You’ll build consumer-centric assortment plans across Nike own eco-system and Tmall with an understanding of the platform position in the market, blending fact-based and intuitive inputs. You will participate in seasonal reviews, submits and trading for your respective area. This includes assortment building and submits working with Associate Merchants and system entry. Merchandising Director may also lead projects across teams or topics.
You will lead the geo seasonal product adoption, with intelligence on product opportunities from both digital and store.
You will balance multiple seasons and your insights will contribute to future seasonal plans and adoption by supporting Consumer Merchandising Leadership upstream (10%). You will manage your areas of assortment planning in depth during the seasonal process (70%) and gather insights from and support optimal trading of in-market seasons (20%)

We work closely with fellow merchants and cross-functional teams within the digital marketplace team, kids consumer team and cross MPU partners, in particular with Consumer merch, Planning, Marketing/CDM, Platform and Insights teams. We also work with, operations and the finance teams; relying on business reporting for your area which includes quantitative and qualitative metrics on sales, inventory and consumer behaviors.
