And they work lockstep with Merchandising, Design, Manufacturing and others to produce the final result: products that reflect the soul of sport and inspire athletes to reach new levels of performance.As the Advanced Manufacturing Material Developer, you will drive the development of materials for the local vendor base supporting the NA Mega Market Manufacturing. You’ll use your materials knowledge and collaborative skills to help optimize and manage the creation of, and the subsequent downstream transition of, strategically important materials. In addition, you'll participate in analysis and material reviews that result in gender/category materials consolidation. You will also be responsible for more complex products and projects as requested by the Advanced Manufacturing Leadership team. You'll manage the lifecycle of approved materials as well as will help scale materials developments. You'll also research manufacturing trends and new innovations.Core responsibilities includeCollaborate with Strategic Sourcing and Material Development to drive material optimization, through the analysis of material use data, technical specifications, and vendor performance.
Communicate and manage optimized material choices via physical and virtual tools for use within the footwear Material Development & Design community
Initiate and manage material developments. 
Enable both the creative and technical objectives through operational activities including vendor validation and material article validation.
Provide technical assistance and support to product creation teams (primarily Development, Design, and Product Management) and procurement teams as it relates to the application of footwear upper materials.
Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to manage capacity on key volume and/or innovation materials.
Research the manufacturing industry and create technical briefs detailing ‘best-in-class’ manufacturing techniques, technology and expertise.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Textiles, Material Science, Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent 
Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, which may include footwear industry experience or materials development
2 years' experience may be substituted for a degree
Strong understanding of textile formation, yarn, fiber, dyeing, printing and finishing 
Knowledge of material types knits, woven’s & non-woven’s
Knowledge of leather manufacture and use is a plus
Basic working knowledge of MS Office applications 
Able to anticipate needs, solve problems, perform research and analyze results 
Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities 
Able to negotiate and influence with sensitivity for the creative process 
Able to be assertive, self-motivated and work in a team environment 
Sensitivity to different cultures, customs and business practices 
Footwear, Apparel or similar consumer goods product development process knowledge is strongly preferred 
Lab testing and global material experience is a plus 
Experience with 3rd party/vendor engagement, materials or related development projects is preferred
Ability to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions preferred
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
