DescriptionNike’s Global Consumer Knowledge organization is a growing team responsible for building and deepening a holistic view of Nike’s consumers through data and analytics, and applying those insights to inform the development of incredible digital services and experiences for our consumers. We are hiring a senior science leader to manage our data and personalization science teams. This team is charged with creating the data and modeling products that will power Nike’s 1:1 consumer connection at scale. This is a high growth, high visibility area for the company and demands a leader who combines scientific excellence, operational expertise, and strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. The ideal candidate is an expert in machine learning and/or statistical modeling, has experience partnering with engineering to deliver data science into production systems, and has a track record of successful collaboration with product and business ownership. Also, this candidate should be an experienced leader, energized by the prospect of mentoring a growing staff of talented professionals from a diverse set of academic and professional backgrounds. Key responsibilities:Define and deliver Nike’s algorithmic capability for personalization at scale
Partner with engineering/services functions to deliver algorithms to into Nike’s apps and we presence
Partner with digital product ownership to help define scope and shape of Nike’s personalization program
Mentor a large team of scientific professionals, driving both technical and business/integration growth
Work cross-functionally with other analytics and science leaders at Nike in developing the company’s integrated data offense
QualificationsEducation:B.S. in statistics, applied math, physics or other quantitative discipline (e.g. computer science, statistics, etc)
Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) preferred
Experience:5+ years of experience in a role developing machine-learned/statistical models and integrating with production systems
10+ years experience leading a team/teams of scientific professionals in digital or commercial settings 
Experience collaborating closely with or managing engineering resources & technical product managers
Experience with moderate to large-scale data sets (>100GB) 
Experience with neural nets and deep architectures preferred
Required Skills:Core capability to understand, utilize and innovate on state-of-the art machine learning algorithms and/or statistical modeling techniques to solve real-world problems
Capability to define and execute a roadmap aimed at clear business goals
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, ability to build consensus and translate between technical and non-technical partners
Exceptional presentation skills
Some operations management preferred
