DescriptionWe are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to play a critical role in the development of the Nike.com Launch platform and in providing Nike’s most passionate members and consumers access to our most coveted products.In this role, you will be instrumental in driving the team to deliver an innovative and quality web experience that enables a consistent, maintainable and highly scalable Launch experience. You will lead by example in delivering critical business solutions from concept to production and be an advocate of emerging technologies and development techniques to address current and future consumer needs. You will serve as mentor, providing technical guidance and support to team members. Presenting complex ideas, anticipating potential objections, and persuading others to consider your point of view are skills you excel at. With a focus on operationalizing SSR React based web experiences, you’ll help evolve the CI/CD, ALM and DevOps toolkit of the Nike.com ecommerce web platform. Leading by example you’ll elevate the team’s ability to plan for, and support large traffic events, as wells as understand how to triage and pinpoint web performance issues and opportunities.The successful candidate is a proven leader with excellent communication and collaboration skills in addition to current, hands-on coding skills. You will be expected to leverage your expertise to work with multiple stakeholders and leaders, influence the broader organization’s strategy, and communicate strategic vision that spans technical domains and enables Nike Direct initiatives. The ideal candidate will anticipate future needs of the Launch program and drive solutions to those challenges. We don’t need you to just code -- you must also be able to solve unique and complex problems and partner across domains and functions to maximize business value for Nike. Most importantly you must have the passion to deliver solutions that amaze our consumers!Qualifications•8 years of software development experience •Strong skills in team leadership and building positive relationships across Engineering, Product and Architecture•Ability to present and explain technical efforts at multiple levels of detail •Solid foundation in JavaScript development, SSR, NodeJS, reactive programming, and architecture patterns•Diverse and deep experience in Scaling, Instrumentation and supporting cloud based NodeJS Deployments•Experience working in a Distributed/Cloud-based environment (AWS preferred).•Experience with Jenkins, TerraForm, Docker and general CI/CD Canary deployment•Experience with modern build strategies, continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. •Understanding in agile principles and the Scrum development process•Ability to define solution options, provide estimates on effort and risk, and evaluate technical feasibility•Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment •Commitment to and hands-on experience in performing technical code reviews NIKE, Inc. is a growth company that looks for team members to grow with it.
