DescriptionThe role of the Global Communications function at Nike is to establish and strengthen authentic connections with audiences around the globe, through the lens of innovation and sport. We focus on premium brand stories related to our products, categories and athletes; we manage corporate reputation and the Nike brand; and we engage, inspire and motivate internal and external communities. We are seeking a senior Corporate Communications professional to join Nike’s Global Communications team. The position of Global Communications Senior Director is responsible for developing and leading strategic, corporate-level communications plans. This position works with executive leadership, investor relations, corporate governance, risk management, strategic planning, product and innovation teams, government affairs, legal, business teams and the broader global communications team. This position requires communicating on complex and sophisticated issues so knowledge of and experience in global corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, finance and business communications, corporate governance and public affairs within the US and global markets is required.Key competencies of the role include being a proven media spokesperson with excellent written and verbal communications skills, ability to react and respond to global news stories and trends and be agile working in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.This person must be highly collaborative, a strong strategic and analytical thinker, able to influence across Nike’s business with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities. They should be as competent at working in a cross-functional team while engaging and advising senior leaders across the business. Experience working at a global brand and working with global markets will be highly regarded. This person will be an outstanding communications professional with a demonstrated track record of success and least 12+ years experience in corporate communications and/or public affairs, preferably working for a large consumer brand and/or communications agency. QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communication, Business or related discipline
Strong media relations background
Experience working on complex issues that require thoughtful analysis and high-level strategic counsel
Strong team management skills
Leadership to create strategies to drive and enhance the corporate storytelling and Nike’s corporate narrative
Ability to “see the bigger picture” and ensure we leverage Nike’s resources to greatest impact
Strong networking and relationship building skills; Ability to influence others to take action
Persuasiveness and ability to provide inspiration, direction, and resources
Ability to cut through complexity to find solutions and approaches for impact
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to create strong strategies
Flexible, proactive and able to respond and adapt to a rapid-paced environment
