You will be part of an organization that is revolutionizing Nike technology platforms and architecting a technology landscape that is simplified, modern, and flexible and will ultimately enable Nike on its journey to 2020 and beyond.The Architecture team partners and engages directly with business and technology leaders across Nike in planning, creating, maintaining and executing technology solutions that are aligned to Nike’s strategic roadmap and architectural principles established by enterprise architecture.As a Director of Technical Architecture, you will be setting strategy and organization for a group of highly skilled technical architects that are leading our digital transformation as advocates of new technology and development techniques in Nike Technology. This is a highly visible role, guiding both engineering and business teams on architecture solutions and technology. Your team will deliver architecture and design patterns, including hands-on POCs and training and mentoring of development teams to build innovative solutions for Nike.In this role, you will stay abreast of industry trends and technology and connect them back to solutions for Nike business. You will engage, collaborate and partner with various technical leaders and executive stakeholders to understand long and short term business and technology strategies, provide thought leadership and engage in proactive planning of an executable technology roadmap. These roadmaps will address the strategic and tactical business and technology priorities as well as challenges and intended business outcomes.Responsibilities:•Build the mission, scope and organization structure for the group to build a strong technical architecture and engineering foundation across a broad spectrum of key strategic initiatives.•Understand and articulate the needs of business and technical stakeholders via regular dialogue and proactively advise them on leveraging technology to strengthen their capabilities•Hire, inspire and motivate a group of highly skilled architects to transform Nike strategy into plans and goals•Lead planning and prioritization with a focus on strategic objectives and vision, balanced with business deliverables •Partner with broader architecture organization and engineering leadership to build and implement common architecture principles, best practices and agile development discipline•Partner with Delivery and Engineering teams to establish and promote standards and best practice•Build a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by staying up on technology trends•Manage through a matrixed culture of the organization and build consensus through expertise and education QualificationsWe're looking for someone special, someone who had these experiences and clearly demonstrated these skills:•10+ years combined hands-on engineering experience with public cloud, distributed computing, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), and custom developed solutions •5+ years of experience building, coaching and leading software professionals•Large enterprise experience including global experience with solution delivery•A passion for technology and solving interesting challenges•Experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e.g. VPC, networking, security and isolation, routing, scalability, cloud native architecture)•Experience in NoSQL data stores, such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, or similar technologies•Prior experience in designing and implementing highly scalable web applications•Diverse and deep experience in micro service architecture, Domain Driven Design, and RESTful Services using languages such as Java, Node, or Scala•Experience with continuous integration, test driven design, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred•Delivery experience using Scrum and Agile principles•Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment •Commitment to and hands-on experience in performing technical code reviews•Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams •Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or other relevant subject area. 2 years additional relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of degree NIKE, Inc. is a growth company that looks for team members to grow with it.
