For DSM it translates into the following Vision statement: Consumer Demand is Nike Demand. The role of Demand Planning is to best forecast Consumer Demand. The Nike Consumer stories are built through the category lens and capturing these is essential in shaping consumer demand. That starts 92 weeks out before products get delivered to the marketplace. The role of category planning is to build seasonal plans in partnership with category team members in Product, Merchandising, Brand, Marketplace and Finance. The purpose of the category plans is threefold: monetize the plan, signal to the supply chain to secure capacity and optimize Product Offer. The Sr. Director Global Category Planning within Demand Supply Management (DSM), is responsible for defining the seasonal Tops Down plan in partnership with Brand Demand Planning and manage it through the different gates. Key questions to answer are: What is the market capacity and how do we best go after that x-category with bottoms up plans? Where are the opportunities and where are the risks versus category and functional objectives? How do we optimize the category portfolio? How do we optimize the product line and depth to meet Consumer Demand and optimize Full price sell through? The candidate is leading a category planning team in WHQ and is partnering with category planning teams in the 4 geographies. The Sr. Dir. Global Category Planning is a world class leader and is constantly exploring how to best unlock the potential of the team. Success is measured by hitting Margin, Revenue and Inventory targets and functional metrics like Full Price Sell Through, Forecast Volatility / Accuracy, FLOW and SKU productivity.
