DescriptionAs the architect of a comprehensive EHS strategy for three manufacturing facilities in this fast-growing business line, the AirMI Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Director is responsible for managing a staff of EHS professionals to develop an EHS strategy and create programs and processes to support Nike’s innovation and manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of being an effective and agile business partner, an effective change agent, have experience in R&D environments involving both innovative chemistries as well as equipment, have practical manufacturing experience and be well versed in regulatory requirements and industry standards. As the EHS lead for in-house manufacturing, the Director will sit on the global EHS steering committee and have a role in shaping the voice of Nike’s EHS global programs and tools.
Responsibilities include: • Develop and implement a comprehensive EHS management strategy with an articulated plan for evolving from compliance-based safety to a world class safety culture. • Develop and implement a strategic and comprehensive approach to Industrial Hygiene. • Work in conjunction with AirMI Engineers, Operations and Facilities to develop comprehensive electrical safety program, including live electrical work and LOTO. • Develop and implement comprehensive chemical management program. • Develop and implement programs to meet all environmental laws applicable to innovation and manufacturing including air emissions, water discharge, waste management and all right to know reporting. • Enhance safety training, with a focus on developing skills in performing root cause analysis and comprehensive Risk Assessments. • Participate as Manufacturing lead in global EHS programs and initiatives, including participation on committees, contributing to program development and helping to shape global EHS. Introduce, educate and provide training on global programs and processes as appropriate. • Facilitate internal audits and self-assessments. Assist operations in addressing audit recommendations.
QualificationsExperience: • 7-10 years practical EHS experience at a large global company with R&D and/or manufacturing operations and world class safety programs. • Detailed knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and their state equivalents as well as other applicable industry environmental, health and safety standards • Demonstrated ability to develop all components of successful and sustainable safety programs • Proficiency in conducting root cause investigations and risk assessments. • Demonstrated ability to manage federal, state and local regulatory compliance. • Demonstrated ability to effectively and thoroughly audit facilities as well as assist in addressing audit findings • Demonstrated ability to develop a business case in support of EHS initiative • Demonstrated ability to develop effective standards and work instructions and train personnel with differing levels of education and experience.
