DescriptionNike Smart Systems Engineering envisions, builds, and commercializes the future of digitally enabled products that serve the athlete. We are looking for an experienced Lead Firmware Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for embedded firmware design of innovative consumer electronics products that help make athletes better. This role will assist in the architecture of a robust firmware platform by designing efficient, testable, and scalable code that can execute across different hardware platforms to enable amazing athlete product experiences. The successful candidate will have proven industry experience driving system architecture, from initial prototypes to production code, including driving the ability to manufacture at scale. Join us and help define the future of sport.Qualifications•Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical field- Minimum 8 years of work experience in embedded systems firmware development- 6+ years experience developing firmware for different microprocessors and with different tool chains including small footprint embedded systems- 2+ years experience identifying hardware requirements based upon system firmware requirements- Works with Engineers, Designers, Innovators, and other experts to architect and realize intent and experience design of embedded systems and solutions. Uses concept sketches, pseudo-code, engineering design/ideas, and other communication methods to assure clear understanding of technological capabilities and limitations.- Creates specifications and architectural documentation in order to lead external software development partners to create prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and consumer grade embedded software.- Strong understanding of embedded firmware architecture and system design.- Expertise in data compression technologies targeted to a resource-constrained embedded environment.- Proven strong understanding of software design processes, methodologies and approaches.- Ability to support all phases of the product development cycle including architecture, design, development, debugging, documentation and validation.- Experience architecting and leading firmware design for systems using low power 32-bit microcontrollers.- Experience writing or designing firmware for BLE, UART, SPI, I2C, USB and other communication protocols.- Experience writing or designing embedded low power management firmware.- Demonstrated expertise in design of multitasking, event driven real time firmware using C and understanding RTOS concepts.- Must be well versed in low-power hardware design.- Ability to read schematics and work through hardware level system issues.- Excellent creativity, communication, presentation, troubleshooting, time-management and analytical skills are required.- Available for frequent late-afternoon/evening conference calls.- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
