DescriptionThe position of Footwear Designer 2 will work under the Designer Director of Nike Basketball Footwear to design performance basketball footwear from concept to reality. You will design product seasonally, spanning a range of price points and athlete/consumer types. In this role, the designer will need to have excellent sketching skills and be able to generate a lot of ideas quickly, then be able to focus the designs down to a finalized solution that is manufacturable. Ex- from loose sketches or prototyping, to realistic renderings, to precise technical orthographic drawings. Your ability to clearly and concisely communicate your designs and ideas is critical for internal and external presentations and meetings. In this job, you will constantly be working with partners in design, marketing, development, engineering, costing and testing. Not only are your individual skills and experience important, but collaboration with these partners is paramount to the success of the product you will be working on and the team dynamic. We are looking for someone who is vocal with their thoughts but is also very open to listening to and acting upon feedback. As a member of Nike Basketball, you are in a highly visible category, where there is potential for you to be in front of professional athletes and media. You will also be traveling domestically and internationally to connect with consumers, athletes, retailers, design inspiration, collaborators, and factory partners. We expect you to bring a high level of professionalism, respect and maturity in how you behave internally and externally. Bring your daily passion for Basketball! Your ability to play the game isn’t as critical as your drive and curiosity to learn about the game from a science to cultural standpoint. Your ability to creatively translate insights from the lab, the court, and off the court into marketable and innovative products is what we expect you to do. QualificationsCommunication and presentation skills: creating presentation tools and excellent communication skills for internal purposes and for athletes
Compute skills: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Keynote, PowerPoint, Outlook
Excellent sketching (analog and digital), rendering, and orthographic drawing skills
Capable of creating a broad range of designs and ideas. Different styles, different price points, different athletes/consumers
Strong problem solving around basketball movement, footwear construction and manufacturing.
Excellent aesthetic and narrative sensibilities to push basketball culturally
Collaborative working style within the Design team and with other functions
