About the job
Nike aims to have premium and personalized experiences across its apps, stores, and communications with users. The personalization science teams at Nike work on the machine learning models behind those experiences. We seek a leader for one of those teams--Search and Recommendations. This small team works on the science of matching Nike products with diverse tastes around the world. The director role will be responsible for building out this team, and delivering a roadmap that impacts the business as well as positions Nike as a leader in the field of search and recommendation science. Specific responsibilities include:
Hiring and mentoring skilled data scientists.
Driving the science roadmap for product search on Nike.com and Nike apps.
Driving the investigation of personalization research topics, including wardrobe recommendation, product image selection, and whole-page optimization.
Driving the science roadmap for workout recommendation algorithms for the Nike running and training apps.
Partnering with other personalization science teams including those working on editorial content and marketing communications in order to have highly aligned roadmaps.
Partnering with data engineering, machine learning platform, and product teams to deploy the search and recommendation algorithms, and evaluate the A/B test results.
Collaborating with the broader data science community within Nike, including teams supply chain optimization and demand forecasting.
Representing Nike at conferences and community events.
QualificationsExperience hiring and mentoring exceptional data scientists.
Expert knowledge in machine learning, particularly in ranking and deep learning models.
Expert knowledge in search and recommender systems, including familiarity with research published in at conferences such as SIGIR, SIGKDD, and RECSYS.
Experience with TensorFlow and Amazon AWS.
Evidence of excellent partnerships with engineering, product, and analytics teams.
Product and entrepreneurial mindset.
