About the job
This is a senior engineering position on our Next Generation Analytics Platform Operations team with a focus on AWS Operational Excellence. It includes work with Infrastructure as Code and deployment automation as well as providing direction and mentoring other team members as we grow our automation capability. It includes working with and contributing to tools and solutions provided by internal Nike cloud teams and developing solutions for Nike teams working in our analytics infrastructure. It includes supporting and enhancing security and privacy solutions. This role contributes to operations with level three support and with rotating assignments providing platform support. Engineers are expected to contribute to operational documentation and user onboarding / training activity.
Key Job responsibilitiesProvide leadership in desiging and implementing Infrastructure as Code automation for the Platform Operations team – establish patterns, templates, and provide direction and mentoring to team members
Collaborate with other platform teams
Design and deploy solutions for groups that need access to our platform and data infrastructure including from other AWS accounts and from other data and applications within Nike’s infrastructure
Develop, support and enhance security, privacy and access management solutions
Adopt infrastructure tools and solutions provided by other internal Nike teams
Implement principles and solutions that adhere to the AWS Operational Excellence and Well Architected Framework
Provide operational documentation and participate in onboarding & training activity
Provide level 3 support (escalations) for platform incidents and participate in rotating support assignments
Qualifications5 - 7 years of professional experience
AWS certification at the Associate level or above, Professional preferred
AWS 3+ years experience covering these areas:
Advanced experience with IAM, S3, EC2, Dynamodb, VPC, RDS, Lambda, Cloudwatch, Route 53
Experience building, automating and managing custom AMIs
Other Services: Analytics tools (EMR, Athena), ECS, EKS
Experience with AWS Well Architected Framework and Operational Excellence
In depth knowledge of AWS EC2 instance types and their cost / compute factors
1+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling – Terraform, Cloudformation, Troposphere, etc
2 years experience with DevOps automation with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, CircleCI, Packer), scource code control platforms (Git, GitHub, BitBucket, etc) and the use of Docker containers in pipelines
2 years programming experience in Python including experience with REST APIs and JSON encoding
3 years Linux systems experience with Red Hat, Unbuntu, Amazon Linux and CentOs
Agile/Scrum/Kanban experience
Monitoring: Hands on experience with monitoring tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Signal Fx, Nagios, New Relic, Splunk
Networking - Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, HTTP/S, firewalls, and networking within AWS
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including mentoring and training
Demonstrated strong documentation skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
Ability to work with onshore/offshore teams, and communicate using virtual communication tools (phone, conferencing, online meeting, Slack)
Ability/willingness to work flexible hours
Educational qualificationsBS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems or other relevant subject area preferred
