DescriptionAs our Apparel Design Director for Women's Nike Sportswear, you'll provide creative leadership, direction and inspiration to a category Design team. You'll lead the team by providing key concepts and critical evaluation of projects to ensure the creative vision meets strategic and business goals. You'll also work with your Design counterparts in other areas of the business to ensure continuity and alignment across product lines. You'll develop or participate in business planning, budgeting, performance targets and calendar process.You'll also utilize internal and external partnerships that leverage resources and enhance business group effectiveness. This opportunity also involves setting team and individual goals; coaching staff, and creating opportunities for staff development. You'll create original designs within a category that reflect Nike's design philosophy and appropriately meet the business and merchandising needs. You'll also be responsible for designing a limited number of styles. You'll communicate the creative vision and Brand direction to the team and Nike stakeholders. In addition, you'll manage the design product processes to ensure the design deliverables and timelines are met.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Apparel Design8 years' relevant experience2 years' additional experience in lieu of a degreeExceptional ability to apply and perform design skills, including drawing, sketching, concept ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing and scale, visual presentation development and layout is supported by a great portfolio of non-computer-based creative art and graphic designComprehensive understanding of garment construction and textile sciencesAbility to apply skills in innovative ways that elevate product excellenceExperience in athletic/apparel industry with proven ability to incorporate marketing principles in designComputer literate using Macintosh computer design applicationsProficient financial skills and knowledge, including ability to optimize resources to create profitabilityStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to effectively communicate complex and/or controversial concepts to a wide and diverse audienceAbility to exercise a high degree of professionalismStrong understanding and application of managerial concepts and techniques in areas such as project/change management, idea creation, employee development, coaching and cross-team effectivenessAccustomed to working in a rapidly changing, high-growth environment NIKE, Inc. is a growth company that looks for team members to grow with it.
