About the job

Will apply data streaming and big data technology along with machine learning to help deliver personalized experiences in Beaverton, OR. Will manage and grow an effective and efficient engineering organization. Will work with Product Development teams to design, develop and deliver data solution on a Data Lake. Will support business units by providing data in a ready-to-use form to data analysts and data scientists for business insights, predictive analytics, and machine learning. Will be accountable for the design and development of a data solution feature or a data pipeline with high reliability, stability, scalability and performance. Will design or develop data model and enrich the analytical data sources for further usability and availability by advanced and cutting-edge technology. Will collaborate with other teams or groups to identify challenges and design solutions. Will establish the technical direction for the team, drive the necessary changes and make appropriate technology choices working collaboratively with business partners and enterprise architecture teams. Will actively participate, and provide guidance to enterprise-level data governance activities. Will research and manage relationships with data vendors to determine technical merit, partnership opportunities, and competitive intelligence. Will recommend audit and review systems and practices to ensure compliance with procedures, regulations and standards. Will be responsible for the employment, promotion recommendations, associate performance evaluation, training, motivation, counseling and discipline of employees. Will work within the area of software development and engineering. Will work with large enterprise data warehouse teams. Will use multiple programming/scripting languages, including Unix/Linux Shell Scripting, Perl, Python, Java, Ruby, and Scala. Will review database principles and SQL. Will use data modeling concepts and model data and metadata to support relational and non-relational database implementations. Will build logical and physical data models. Will work with various big data technologies and open source data processing frameworks, including spark, Hadoop, HBase, ElasticSearch, Pig, and Hive. Will engage in data processing, data structure optimization and design for high scalability, availability, reliability and performance. Will utilize and understanding of REST-oriented APIs, distributed systems, data streaming, complex event processing, and NoSQL solutions for creating and managing data integration pipelines for batch and real time data needs. Will engage in five to ten percent domestic and international travel. Will have 12 to 14 direct subordinates. QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, engineering, or business Experience: nine years of overall progressiveexperience in software engineering Skills/Requirements: five years of experience in the following skill sets: (1) managing software development teams of at least five to ten people; (2) data modeling concepts, including modeling data and metadata to support relational and non-relational database implementation; (3) big data technologies and open source data processing frameworks, including Hadoop; (4) data processing, data structure, optimization, and design of high scalability, availability, reliability, and performance; (5) data base principles and SQL / OLAP based technologies; (6) production support and resolving critical issues.
