The Director, Data Science will lead a team of data scientists that are embedded within the Digital Innovation Studio, Nike Running Club (NRC) and Nike Training Club (NTC) product teams. They will set the data science and analytics strategy to drive measurable impact in multiple classifications of business success. The work of this team includes inspiring consumers around the world towards fitness goals, traditional e-commerce shopping, driving adoption of our latest digital innovations, as well as playing a key role in understanding and optimizing Nike’s newest digital business model - premium subscription for Nike Training Club (NTC). Are you ready to make a career-altering difference in driving one of the world’s largest fitness brands to new digital heights?Key Responsibilities•Manage, mentor, and inspire a data science team; managing performance, goals and development potential•Set team strategy to enable the design of scalable, end-to-end analytics solutions•Direct the exploration, validation, and implementation of contemporary data science and analytics methods and tools to derive actionable insights for a wide variety of business goals (e.g. physical activity, subscription signup, content optimization). •Anticipate, identify and facilitate the solution to enterprise issues concerning critical business needs•Own relationships with key business stakeholders to understand and anticipate current and future business needs •Effectively communicate with leadership across organizations both influencing the end-to-end solutions and protecting the interest of the department•Collaborate with leadership across teams of data scientists, business analysts, qualitative researchers, digital designers, engineers, and business stakeholders to take an opportunity or pain point from concept to a new feature or digital product •Create and foster an environment that values and promotes autonomy, skill mastery, empowerment, transparency, innovation, and continuous learning•Evaluate potential new data science talent•Build trust and drive business adoption of your solutions with stakeholders•Direct exploration of appropriate models to discover meaningful patterns and insights•Stay abreast of and apply industry and technology trends as well as emerging tools and techniques relevant to discipline•Create a continuous learning environment within the advanced analytics community through team trainings and sharing of knowledgeQualificationsQualifications•Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.•8 years of relevant professional experienceRequired Skills•Has a strong problem solving and analytical mindset•The ability to think creatively with data, formulate and get tractions around new ideas, and bring a new perspective to business and engineering partners•Able to influence and communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with team members, business stakeholders and leadership•Able to influence critical business outcomes in a matrix based, global environment•Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve both people and process related issues•Experience resolving end-to-end issues with higher levels of management•Experience working with real-world, structured and unstructured data•Ability to teach and give feedback in multiple data environments involving complex joins, data cleaning, and feature creation using SQL or SQL based languages (Hive) is required •Core mathematical ability to teach the application of state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and/or statistical modeling in a programming language like R or Python to understand patterns and provide insights is required•Excellent communications skills, in particular, the ability to communicate technical content to general audience in presentation and meeting format•Able to quickly pick up new programming languages, technologies, and frameworks•In-depth background in mathematics, statistics, or a related field•In-depth knowledge of applied data science•Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and to multi-task across different functions of the business, and switch workstreams and handle many different levels of requests.Preferred Skills•Experience with Adobe Omniture Suite, Google Analytics, Tableau, or Optimizely is a plus•Data science or advanced analytics applications in businesses with a subscription-based model (e.g. content platforms, gaming, etc.)•Familiarity with digital optimization, A/B and multivariate test implementation, analysis and business reviews•Executive level presentation and communication experience•Consumer experience with Nike digital apps (NTC, NRC, SNKRS, Nike App) •Knowledge of Nike’s physical merchandise and company history NIKE, Inc. is a growth company that looks for team members to grow with it.
