DescriptionBACKGROUNDAt Nike we are always on the offense, and we are looking for talented self-starters with a passion for advanced analytics to join our growing team. We are responsible for leveraging predictive analytics to enhance decision making and facilitate to action against our strategic priorities, elevating the function of analytics within Nike.OVERVIEWYou are passionate about data science and its ability to transform Nike’s business. You are creative, tenacious, and motivated by your ability to make a large business impact on a multi-billion-dollar organization. You are an expert in data science methodologies with experience in wholesale and retail. You have a voracious appetite to test hypotheses and land complex analyses, then translate the findings into business-relevant insights that you evangelize with stakeholders in the North America geography ranging from high-level executives to planners. You know how to both lead and manage a team of data scientists, data analysts, and data engineers. You will manage the backlog for dashboards and data products. You develop and prioritize work in order to facilitate value to business stakeholders as quickly as possible. As new data science needs evolve, you are both listening and catalyzing the dialogue because you know what your stakeholders need. You address their pain points by leading a team that produces simple, elegant solutions – and your ruthless focus on practicality means that you’re able to deliver regular value drops. Part of the magic you bring to this role is your excellent technical understanding: you know the gory details about which methods are appropriate and how they can be accurately and robustly applied. RESPONSIBILITIESProduct Advocate | Be able to describe the product, its value, how it works, and how it is adopted. Speak to upcoming changes and tailor the information to the audience. Understand the product roadmap and use knowledge of future features to improve current stories and tests.
Stakeholder Management | Work closely with customers to capture requirements and understand use cases. Facilitate adoption through personal interaction and written documentation. Conduct analyses to choose how epics are performing, level of customer satisfaction, and suggest innovative improvements.
Agile Facilitation: Team | Write and refine stories for clarity, business value, and acceptance criteria. Identify, escalate, and remove roadblocks; triage defects; and provide clarity from customers on issues as appropriate. Work with team to translate any internal "enablers" into value-driven stories. Conduct product demos.
Agile Facilitation: Strategy | Assess and provide input on potential improvements to Product Owner regarding impact to business partners' current processes and their current use of the product (feature, tool, or platform). Highlight risks, escalate impacts, and develop/evaluate possible solutions for complex issues.
Thought Leadership | Apply knowledge of product and business drivers to enhance work. Leverage expertise in data science to provide guidance on methods and implementation.
Talent Development | Lead small team, including coaching/developing, mentoring in best data science practice, setting priorities, and ensuring that their ongoing analyses are extensive and relevant
QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree and above in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or other relevant quantitative field.
Experience6+ years in product management experience with building and delivering successful data science products, services, and capabilities.
One of the following alternatives may be accepted:
PhD or Law and 3 yrs
Masters and 5 yrs
Associates and 10+ yrs
8+ years of relevant professional experience.
SkillsExperience utilizing both qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis techniques
Expert in statistical analysis (e.g., hypothesis testing, experimental design), and advanced analytics (e.g., forecasting, optimization, simulation). Proficient with machine learning methods.
Expert skill level in tools for data wrangling (e.g., SQL, Snowflake), statistical analysis (e.g., R, STATA), forecasting and machine learning (e.g., SAS, R, Python), and stakeholder presentation (e.g., Excel, Tableau).
Proven record of collaborating with and delivering results across cross-functional teams, with superb teamwork skills and the capacity to manage several concurrent tracks of work against aggressive timelines.
Outstanding problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to deliver consistent, high-quality analysis to solve complex problems.
Experience, interest, and adaptability to working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to communicate complex concepts as high-impact presentations to senior and business audiences.
Must excel working in team-oriented roles that rely on ability to collaborate with others.
Excellent communication, collaboration, team dynamics, and conflict resolution.
Experience leading others in resolving complex issues.
Ability to prioritize competing priorities and make decisions in ambiguous situations.
Planning acumen and demonstrated skill in pragmatic work breakdown / MVP definition.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Knowledge and experience of agile/scrum product development.
In-depth knowledge and hands-on creation of key artifacts including use cases, user stories, user acceptance criteria, configuration stories, or specifications.
In-depth understanding of technology systems and the ecosystem the team works in to help team in overcoming roadblocks.
