About the job
As a Footwear Material Developer II, you will be responsible for providing technical material expertise to the PMO product creation teams and factories. You will actively participate in product review meetings for prioritized categories throughout the development process, providing consultation on material selection and application. You will be involved in the testing and validation process to ensure materials meet intended use and specifications.
A primary responsibility will be to communicate and collaborate with your material development counterparts at WHQ to ensure material issues are elevated and resolved. Your team will be responsible for working with vendors and factories to commercialize a portfolio of seasonal materials to ensure potential risks are elevated and resolved earlier in the development process. You will contribute expertise to continually evolve and streamline communication, and best practices to mitigate risks, improve responsiveness, and drive long term material quality and application performance. You will be involved in validating and managing the consistency of the principal materials palette.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Industrial Design, Engineering or a related field, OR 2 additional years' relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
* 2+ years' experience in product creation or material development (e.g., development, product engineering, pricing, production, marketing, product creation training and development and/or R&D services)
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Clear understanding of the footwear product creation process and footwear manufacturing
* Demonstrated development and project management skills
* Ability to clearly articulate policies and instructions
* Demonstrated skills in problem-solving and results orientation
* Innovative mindset
* Creative problem-solving skills
