About the role
As a member of the Japan Legal Entity Record to Report/Strategic Investment SG&A/Tax team, you will take a lead role in the continuous improvement of General Ledger (Legal Entity Record to Report), Fixed Asset/Lease/Sports Marketing/Wage etc. (Strategic Investment SG&A) control environment to enable Nike’s ongoing growth.
Responsibilities
*
Drive continuous improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of the team’s monthly and quarterly accounting and financial reporting processes. * Ensure timely and accurate month/quarter-end closing and reporting.
* Manage, coordinate, and perform financial reporting and internal control processes related to: Lead General Leger close, Intercompany module close, Fixed Asset Accounting Review and module close, Lease Accounting Tool Review, Sports Marketing Endorsement Contract Accounting review, and this includes accounting memo preparation and reviews with Controller and APLA Geo Finance Controlling team.
* P&L and B/S flux analysis and SOX controls related activities as well as ABAC related controls.
* Lead and manage Account reconciliations for Nike Japan with other accounting team members.
* Quarterly management and external reporting.
* Payments by working with AP lead and Genpact Team in Dalian/China.
* Lead and manage Nike Japan’s tax returns - Corporate Tax, Consumption tax, enterprise tax etc. and this includes transfer pricing related matters and tax audit by local tax authorities.
* Work as part of a dedicated team to ensure key financial assertions are met with respect to Investment SG&A, WAGE, General Leger and related accounts through development/maintenance of a comprehensive control structure across the transaction stream(s), understanding the processes that ultimately results in the recognition of Investment SG&A, WAGE and related accounts.
* Develop high profile, influential, and collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and layers of the business while demonstrating mastery of US GAAP, particularly around SG&A, General legers and Tax.
* Work closely with Finance Planning team and the Operations team to enable new business strategies and optimize/enhance accounting processes.
* Be a subject matter expert on assigned areas, supporting Internal & External Audit and internal control work.
* Be a leader within the larger NIKE Finance and Controlling Organization to develop, embrace, and create/deliver best practices and new accounting policies.
* Participate in the development of LER2R/SISG&A Controlling’s strategic objectives and proactively set targets / measurable to enable the team’s success in achieving those goals.
