JOB MISSION:

Overall responsibility for TOTAL QUALITY...fit, performance, functionality, and cost for their specific projects.  Effectively uses Project Management tools to drive execution and on time deliverables to meet seasonal deadlines.  Interprets the Product Brief requirements and provides technical direction to ensure the products technically meet or beat the competition in areas that are important to our athletes and the consumer utilizing Development Plans, DFMEA’s and other Product Validation tools.  Responsible to advance the technical expertise of a consumer segment or technical component.  Is regularly sought after for technical advice and guidance from the triad and extended teams.  Decision maker on upper construction and new sole development and advises teams on how to meet all performance requirements, DfX goals and on time execution of finished product.  Is the bridge between Innovation and In-Line teams for new upper constructions, new sole development, and processes.  Stays current on industry developments/technologies, innovations in the field and competitors.  In partnership with Category Management, incorporates knowledge of NB global business, the competition, costing, and manufacturability in planning and developing high impact, market-right products, lines, and categories

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

!    Overall responsibility for the assigned category of product development activities through production.  !    Manages projects from initiation through Buy Ready and follows through successful retail launch. !    Participates in the planning and execution of 3D CAD engineering activities to meet commercialization and production timelines.  !    Maintain and provide a clear form of documentation and communication with team members, including team leaders and upper management, to keep the product teams informed, focused, and all working towards the same project objectives, to help assist the transfer of design solutions from concept through final product within the USA team, Asia team, suppliers, and NB factory base.  !    Ability to build and execute a product validation plan for tier 1 and tier 2 projects.  !    Works closely with the NB FIT/WEAR Team to ensure consistent Performance Fit and that each style meets wear test standards throughout the development process.  !    Evaluates technical solutions and ensures that decisions balance costing, profitability, manufacturability, design, market factors and on time delivery.  !    Understands molding and associated costs ie. When to use, how to use, correct use of all specified materials for uppers, midsoles, and knowing the impact of molds.  !    Displays a high-level knowledge of the industry, shoe making, sourcing, costing, and manufacturability.  Demonstrates the ability to utilize a variety of problem-solving tools. (Creative Problem Solving, Six Sigma).   REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:!    Bachelor’s degree, Engineering degree a plus!    Minimum of 10 years development experience; 8 years footwear; proven engineering expertise. Strong problem-solving skills (Lean Six Sigma, Creative Problem Solving, PMP)!    Strong Project Management skills!    Creative and strategic problem-solving skills required.!    Strong understanding of wear test data, technical drawings, molding and production processes, materials, and patterns.!    Knowledge of the footwear industry, costing, manufacturing, shoe making, and sourcing!    Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.!    Some Asia travel is required.
