About the job
The BB Dakota Assistant Merchandiser and Technical Designer will help manage the development of specified brands and categories. Tasks will include research, following up on fabric development, measuring garments, maintaining tech packs and preparing for design review meetings. The ideal candidate will be motivated, very organized and detail oriented.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Correspond with domestic and overseas vendors through daily email communication to ensure implementation of product details and accurate understanding
• Establish solid vendor relationships to facilitate execution
• Follow up and track sample development at all stages
o Lab dips
o Fabric
o Trims
o Fit samples
• Build relationships throughout organization creating alliances and cooperation between team members and company divisions
• Prepare Line Sheets
o Set up style numbers
o Verify accurate wholesale
• Prepare color cards as necessary for vendors
• Maintain organized archives of all development items
• Maintain accurate Development Logs for all categories
• Ability to assist when needed in processing fit notes of proto and production samples. This includes being able to properly measure samples and have general understanding of garment construction/fit.
• Perform post season analysis of in-line top booking styles and recommend possible development
• Shop market regularly and identify relevant trends for our customer base
• Ensures timely development of line by adhering to time and action calendar.
• Ability to spec garment, update tech packs and assist with fit comments.
