Planning & Analytics Director

General Summary:
The Director of Planning & Analytics will lead the planning effort across LJG’s portfolio of brands including O’Neill and Hang Ten. The role encompasses the full lifecycle of planning and buying functions along with the supporting analytics: pre-season planning, demand analysis, buying, in-season review, and post-season hind-sighting. We are seeking an individual with extensive planning experience as we evolve the planning function within La Jolla Group to address the demands of today’s business environment. Individual will be responsible for translation and alignment of financial objectives to seasonal sales plans, buy plans and inventory positions. Collaborate with Sales, Merchandise & Design, Production and Finance to deliver on seasonal targets and manage inventory position. Establish vision for evolution of planning and analytics across the organization in collaboration with leadership team. Ideal candidate will be a collaborative and passionate leader who can bring innovation to tools, reports and analytics that support all planning functions. An individual that knows how to gather and communicate key insights to support our brands in making informed decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning and Buying
• Translate fiscal targets to seasonal sales plans across all channels including wholesale, retail and ecommerce at the season, channel, gender, division and label level.
• Develop seasonal SKU forecasts to inform development of seasonal line plans including incorporation of trend analysis, assortment management, SKU productivity and line architecture.
• Partner with leaders of Merchandise & Design and Sales to develop and maintain topline sales, gross margin and inventory plans to drive buying, promotion, and inventory placement decisions.
• Ensure pre-season and in-season plans from the bottom up align with corporate sales, margin and inventory targets.
• Evolve seasonal buying calendar to insure maximum amount of market feedback is incorporated into buy decisions while allowing sufficient production lead times to meet order delivery.
• Analyze style level productivity and profitability at the department and channel level to define the assortment strategy for each season and quarter.
• Develop and implement best in practices in planning, allocation and reporting processes to be deployed throughout the organization.
• Partner with IT and business leads to implement comprehensive suite of analytics to support buying and planning functions.
• Ad hoc reporting.
Process
• Establish and drive planning and buying calendars across the organization.
• Partner with business leads and IT to drive continuous improvement.
• Identify organizational inefficiencies and drive improvement through the automation of manual processes.
People
• Manage, develop and train planning and buying team.
• Ensure open lines of communication and synergy with critical departments
• Develop and maintain strong cross functional relationships across multiple departments.

Job Requirements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate numerical data and models across departments.
• Ability to make decisions confidently with low visibility.
• Excellent project and time management skills and ability to balance multiple tasks.
• Significant experience with Microsoft Excel and advance knowledge of spreadsheet applications. QlikView/other BI experience and Planning system experience nice to have.
• Intellectual curiosity is a must.
• Full Circle ERP experience highly desired.
• 4 Year Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent field preferred. MBA a plus.
• Seven or more years planning and forecasting experience.
