Black Diamond is looking for an Apparel Accessories Designer/Developer to create market-leading innovative, technologically advanced, style-driven products that meet the needs of Black Diamond’s customers and end users. The Apparel Accessories Designer/Developer will work on multiple product categories, such as caps, beanies, belts, and logo driven t-shirts and sweatshirts, with the ability to handle quick turnarounds, drive a color strategy that merchandises with apparel, and aligns with the overall BD brand direction and strategy.

The right candidate will be responsible for managing the initial creative design process, exhibiting a track record of skillful design with success in the market and towards elite end-users. This candidate will lead the development process for these styles, communicating design tech packs to the supply chain, managing design, development, and sample timelines, meeting quality and margin expectations. This position will be responsible for creating their own designs, as well as identifying additional internal and freelance graphic design resources, and managing those resources through the design and development process. In addition, this position will also help manage Black Diamond’s in-house Kornit Direct-to-garment printing system to coordinate DTC logowear printing art preparation and scheduling.

Job Responsibilities:
•Design and develop entire collections around brand themes, functions, price points, etc.
•Maintain consistency across the brand in accordance with company-wide standards
•Thoroughly understand the lifecycle of the entire accessory and logowear design/development process
•Identify, recruit, and manage freelance graphic designers and product themes to incorporate the graphic work into BD accessories and logowear, including but not limited to; t-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, beanies, technical protective accessories (balaclavas, buffs) belts, etc.
•Manage design and development from start to finish of each item, including the specific product specialties that each demands, including: T-shirt printing processes and techniques, cap style, fit and embellishment techniques, knit hat style, fit, knitting, and embellishment techniques, and the same with belts and other soft accessories.
•Manage multiple overlapping logowear needs from a time-management standpoint:
•Immediate/DTC: Manage day-to-day scheduling, coordination with Manufacturing, and implementation of the in-house Kornit Direct To Garment printing equipment to supply marketing, uniform, and DTC graphics and final product
•Fast-to-market: Work with supplier to execute fast-to-market t-shirt program
•Inline: Same as traditional design/development cycle
•Contribute and manage innovative, brand-right graphics for all tiers of global apparel and product branding, for both in-line and quick-turn calendars under direction of Graphic Designer and Graphic Design Director.
•Be at the global forefront of design trends and graphic application. Design graphic art with planning and forethought around artwork execution: screen-printing techniques, applique, embroidery and other embellishment methods.
•Own the creative process to make sure that the final product aligns with creative direction and meets commercial objectives
•Continuously leverage resources in producing new ideas. Solid awareness of outdoor, lifestyle and streetwear trends and the and the ability to interpret these trends.
•Create accurate production files detailing artwork specifications, scale, application materials to vendors. Review strike-offs and drives for highest standard of results.
•Possess the ability to manage large SKU counts and be able to present direction clearly to key stakeholders.
•Produce trend reports and present findings to cross functional teams
