Position Summary
The Product Manager will assist Senior Product manager to achieve a comprehensive business strategy to achieve sales and growth in the global Sporting Goods and IBD channel. They will be required to execute short- and medium-term goals and strategy for the development of bicycle product to ensure brand vision and corporate objectives are met for our Global GT market. The position will require a unique entrepreneurial aptitude for translating customer needs into desired bicycle product.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift, carry and move bicycles with assistance up to 50lbs.
Must be able to assemble and disassemble bicycles.
Must be able to maneuver around bicycles and parts.
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time.
Must be able to travel throughout Europe and internationally.
Responsibilities
Create Bill of Materials for each bike model in respective category and deliver to global assembly locations by set deadlines.
Execute direction for the product categories with consideration of customer needs
Present product vision, features, and functionality to sales and externally to retailers
Monitor developments in the marketplace: Specifically, bicycle products, related technologies, competition, customers and end-users.
Follow trends in color, graphics and lifestyle of similar product categories (eg winter sports, running sports)
Work closely with graphics department to ensure an appealing graphics package.
Work with factories and component suppliers designing, requesting and evaluating new parts and frame designs.
Work with Marketing and Sales to develop sales publications, catalogs, packaging and product launch packages
Work with demand planning and sales to deliver accurate regional forecasts
Write competitive analyses as necessary.
Oversight of project deadlines for design, engineering, specification and commercialization of products
Essential Qualifications
High motivation to work for one of the leading bicycle brands
Bachelors degree in business administration, engineering or related field.
Commercial Education with focus on sporting goods industry or bicycle business
Experience in sporting goods or other bicycle retail environment.
Knowledge of marketing principles required.
Knowledge of bicycle parts and assembly required.
Knowledge of computers required including knowledge of Excel, Access, Word, Outlook and Powerpoint.
Must be able to work in a team environment.
English language skills
Beneficial Qualifications
Previous product development experience in the bicycle industry strongly preferred.
Previous experience with sourcing products from Asia.
Knowledge of various metal manufacturing processes and cost association.
SAP experience
