About the job

Position Summary


Highly creative industrial designer responsible for product design of bicycle parts and accessories from concept to production with a focus on providing product with unique rider centric innovation.


Physical Demands


Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.

Must be able to use a computer keyboard and view a monitor for extended periods of time.

Traveling 15 - 25 % of the time including international travel

Use of hand tools

Must be able to travel domestic and international

Responsibilities


Conceptualize, prototype, engineer, innovative bicycle helmets

Ability to solve complex problems though developing and evaluating options and implementing solutions.

Defines, maintains and evolves brand design language.

Produce 3D and traditional concept models and functional prototypes for concept evaluation

Keep products current with new and developing trends in design, development and manufacturing.

Work with Product Management to define user requirements

Fully accountable for multiple project schedule coordination and tracking within a fast-paced product/development/manufacturing implementation environment.

Strong understanding of and experience with the manufacturing processes including raw materials, production processes, injection molding, rapid prototyping and quality control procedures.

Work with suppliers to optimize production techniques, tooling and part cost, pre-production testing and troubleshooting

Understanding of social and environmental impacts of design decisions for the products entire lifecycle

Ability to work in a team environment required.

Maintains and improves ID shop area.

Essential Qualifications


Bachelors degree in industrial/commercial design or engineering related field required.

Proficiency with 3D CAD software & advanced surface modeling. Solidworks, AutoCAD Fusion 360 strongly preferred, PTC Creo is advantageous

Proficiency with 2D and 3D rendering software such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Keyshot.

Flexible to work in a fast-paced, open team environment, while working on multiple projects in varying levels of development and quickly adjust to market opportunity

3D printing experience

Hand sketching and modeling

Familiarity with PC computer systems required

Knowledge of MS Office applications required.

Deep understanding of latest manufacturing techniques and materials

2D drawing with geometric tolerancing

Domestic and International travel required.

Ability to work in a team environment required.

Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills required.

Beneficial Qualifications


Interest in cycling

Experience in bicycle/sporting goods product development and design

Mechanical finite element analysis set up and analyzing experience

Experience working with international vendors and manufacturing

Proficiency in Workfront, Rhino, Viewforia software programs

Fundamental understanding of electronics, PCB production and battery technology

Experience in working with fabric manufacturing techniques

Generative design experience

Bicycle parts and assembly knowledge

Paint spray booth experience

Metal machining

Experience maintaining and servicing 3D printers
