Assistant Operations Manager



Position Summary



Assist in managing a multi-shift facility(s) staffed with permanent employees and temporary labor when required.

Duties and Responsibilities






Supervises all shipping, receiving, production and staging performed by warehouse crew; maintains a high degree of visibility and access to employees on warehouse floor throughout the shift(s).

Establishes and maintains department standards for safety, productivity, reliability, and accuracy by assuring daily inbound/ outbound units per manpower are met, inventory levels are controlled and accurate and facilities are kept clean and orderly.

Manages facility for the receipt, storage and distribution of products.

Fosters team environment within the facility and demonstrate strong leadership skills.

Manages, evaluates and mentors supervisors and leads.

Coordinates with Managers and Human Resources to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures

Manages and evaluates temporary employees for performance while following all safety and company rules and requirements.

Manages Paid Time Off (PTO) for supervisors and hourly employees assuring coverage to meet daily productivity goals.

Continually educates and trains staff in best practice procedures for both physical handling and system (WMS/SAP).

Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory counts daily and throughout the year.

Manages labor pool effectively based on forecasts and reports provided.

Communicates daily, weekly and monthly goals to warehouse staff using metrics and regular staff meetings.

Responsible for managing warehouse and labor within budget.

Maintains a 100% safe work environment for all employees and coordinate safety training and meetings.

Facilitates employee training for specific job functions and safety.

Manages facility, equipment and all maintenance involved.

Follows internal controls and company policies assessed by Dorel Sports/Pacific-Cycle, Inc. and job function while supporting Companys Strategy, Core Values and Behaviors.

Manages the facilities in the absence of the Operations Manager.

Performs other job related duties as assigned.



Essential Qualifications






Two to four years related experience or equivalent.

Knowledge of warehouse operations best practices while creating and measuring KPIs for efficiencies.

Forklift certified/ Forklift Train the Trainer Certification.

Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating a team.

Commitment to excellence and high standards and manage priorities and workflow.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

High proficiency in computer skills using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SAP.

Basic competence and understanding of subordinates duties and tasks.

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills with Strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.

Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Experience working in a union environment (if present in managed facility).





Beneficial Qualifications





Two and or four-year college degree in Supply Chain, Operations or other related fields

Experience with SAP as a warehouse management system

Bilingual (English/Spanish)
