Hot Chilly's has a great opportunity for an experienced Designer to join the team in the legendary coastal town of San Luis Obispo.

Responsibilities include:

Legacy Product Design Evolution

• With input from sales, customers and through market research look for potential product enhancements to Legacy Products themselves, the packaging, hang tags, trims, branding and manner of merchandising.
• Present all design ideas to management group in the form of story boards.
• Take agreed upon design ideas through:
o Technical illustrations with garment specifications.
o Working with pattern maker to develop pattern through first sample.
o Sample(s) review and fit sessions to final garment approval.
o Confirm specs, raw materials and costs for BOM.
o Provide all necessary approvals of colors, prints, thread colors.
o Provide all information needed to put together Tech Pack.

Interface with Freelance Designers

• At the point which Freelance Design hands off completed design work to PAC, the Lead Designer is responsible to take over responsibility for any design input from that point forward. This includes, but is not limited to:
o Final fit approvals.
o Top of production sample approval.
o Any changes to trims, construction or design lines if necessary due to cost, factory issue or some other event that arises after the freelance designer has turned the project over to PAC.
• Because not all Freelance Designers will take a project through a time period that includes full production ready status or do technical illustrations, the Lead Designer works with Freelance Design to complete all information necessary to bring the products to production ready status. This includes, but is not limited to:
o Technical illustrations with garment specifications.
o Lab dip approvals.
o Spec sheets & BOMs in required format
o Final trims costs and approvals.
o Tech Pack

Product Design

• For specific, new products not to be outsourced to Freelance Design.
• Gather input from sales, customers and market to put together initial story boards.
• Source fabrics, trims and findings.
• Technical illustrations with garment specifications.
• Working with pattern maker to develop pattern through first sample.
• Sample(s) review and fit sessions to final garment approval.
• Confirm specs, raw materials and costs for BOM.
• Provide all necessary approvals of colors, prints, thread colors.
• Provide all information needed to put together Tech Pack.
• Interface all the above with Freelance Design if any portion of this crosses over with Freelance Design products as well.

Full package products
• Initial set up for new products directly with supplier including Tech Packs, etc.
• Initial costing FOB factory
• All garment/product design and approvals.
• Back and forth correspondence with factory to final approval.

Graphics
• Packaging, Hang Tags, Trims
o Initial concepts and designs with Sales and Sr. Director Branding.
o Review proofs upon receipt from vendors.
o If Freelance Designers involved, oversee development through final approval with Freelance Graphic Artist.

Point of Sale Materials
• Story Boards for Customer Previews and Management Presentations
• Technical Drawings for Product Development
• Sales Collateral Materials. Improved look of price sheets, terms sheets, etc.

Other
• Participate in Trade Show booth planning including merchandising product in booth.
• Order Model and Display samples for trade show.
• Assist with set up and tear down of booths for buying group show and main show.
