The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly creative Assistant Designer for Cut & Sew Knits who is driven and results oriented to help assist our lead designers while our Knits Designer is out on maternity leave. This position requires a highly skilled person to translate designs into graphic artwork and embroidery. We are looking for someone who is organized, detailed oriented and a fast learner. You must have a strong textile background and an eye for fashion, color, patterns, and print.

Responsibilities:

• Translate Creative Director’s sketches and ideas into graphic art and embroidery
• Archive artwork electronically for future retrieval from the electronic graphics library
• Create and maintain tech packs including sketches, detailed artwork, and construction details
• Update tech packs throughout the season to resolve any design/quality issues and communicate changes to the factory
• Daily communication with overseas vendors
• Review packages as they come into the warehouse for your category
• Attend and participate in fit sessions with technical designer
• Maintain and organize filing system for all styles
• Assist with color approvals for fabrics and trims
• Support Designers to meet seasonal timelines
• Create and maintain mini boards presentations
• Knowledge of garment construction in knit fabrics, trims, washes, and embroidery
• Detailed understanding of the knit manufacturing process
• Energetic team player with excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with partners in Design, Sales, and Production.

Required Qualifications:

• This is a temporary position 40 hrs/week with potential to turn to permanent
• Must submit a portfolio, resume, and cover letter
• Advanced Knowledge in Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Office (Word/ Excel, and Google Docs)
• Must be willing to come into the office when needed.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to multitask in fast paced environment
• Strong artistic background
• Entrepreneurial and driven attitude with creative thinking skills.
• Positive, dedicated, team-oriented attitude
• Experience in designing embroidery a plus

Education and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in design or related field
2. 2-3 years of experience in design or related field
