JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
! End-to-end performance tasks including performance testing, measurements, application architecture review, performance tuning and restructuring for improving application performance. Be an escalation point for system performance issues
! Drive the ABAP development strategy including designing solution frameworks and educating the developer team. Maintain development standards and naming conventions, drive adoption of clean code principles, execute code reviews, drive Unit test development, TDD strategy_ and perform other quality related tasks.
! Evaluate customization requirements, identify risks and drive towards standardization. Propose, design and drive the development of solutions in SAP BTP using the S4 HANA extensibility features.
! Work closely with the Basis team in executing system upgrade projects, including expert use of the upgrade tools in the ABAP stack and remediation of any/all items related to application code in the context of upgrade (retrofits, N+1 parallel landscape, transport strategies, parallel pipeline of releases etc.). Lead global developer teams in the upgrade activities across multiple solutions (e.g. S/4 Core, Fiori and CAR) and must be able to address complex upgrade issues within tight deadlines.
! Work closely with the functional teams in the context of the technical product for Note corrections, patches, advance solutions etc., support SAP engagements and services, drive adoption of the service recommendations. Work with third party software vendors for intake of solutions. Work with corporate IT security teams to address security gaps in SAP.
! Work closely with the technical development manager in the areas of solution architecture, development and delivery of the RICEF items and be able to handle other peripheral solutions like SAP GRC and Solution Manager to troubleshoot, build and deliver customizations and enhancements in those solutions.
! Assist management in product evaluation and reviews. Prepare management reports related to the SAP system (such as RICEF analytics, customization trends etc.)
! Coaches the team in terms of development, quality assurance and test related processes, methods and tools. Be responsible for driving technology and engineering best practices in the teams and champion their adoption.
OB REQUIREMENTS
Experience: Minimum of 12 years prior experience with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on ABAP programming experience and a minimum of 4 years of SAP product suite engineering experience (e.g. application upgrades, architecting and implementing highly performant solutions for the SAP suite, plug-n-play ABAP solution frameworks for multi-stage rollouts etc.) in a highly complex and large-scale enterprise. Very deep and wide SAP experience needed. Proficiency in global and/or enterprise-wide technical development roadmaps .

Personal Skills:
! Good communication skills and ability to work with people with diverse backgrounds from around the globe
! Good English language skills, written and spoken. Very good experience in presentation tools, including preparing presentations to be consumed by upper management
! Possession of very good analytical & problem-solving capabilities to work on complex topics. Must have a good handle on the latest in the technology area – a curious learner.
Technology Skills:
! Must be experienced in scrum and agile development practices
! Working with collaboration tools like Confluence and JIRA;
! Must have exposure to data provisioning technologies like SDI, SLT replication, familiar with integrating with BTP using web services. Must know authentication mechanisms, web protocols.
! Must understand and have experience dealing with general IT technology components such as networks, servers, VMs, databases, operating systems etc. in an enterprise setting. Added plus if experienced with SAP systems hosted on a cloud provider.
Programming Skills:
! Strong programming background and excellent technical skills in ABAP/ABAP OO, ABAP Core Data Services (CDS) Modeling/OData/BOPF/HANA, RESTful ABAP model, S/4 Embedded Analytics. Must understand and have some experience with test driven development.
! Must be very familiar with toolsets like ADT, HANA Studio, using GIT with ABAP. Experience with Dev Ops in the context of SAP is a plus.
! Must possess excellent debugging / troubleshooting skills; must possess advanced skills of performance analysis techniques/tools for ABAP-based systems. Must be experienced in database related performance tuning.
! Must have a strong understanding of ERP business processes like OTC, PTP, Finance. Any exposure to SAP AFS, Retail, Fashion and CAR solutions is a plus.
! Exposure to other programming languages like Java, JavaScript is a plus; any experience with UI5 and Fiori technology is a plus.
