We’re looking for a collaborative leader who will collaborate on the evolution of the Levi Strauss Legal and Security Department. The Director of Legal Operations will oversee the global business operations, internal communications and ongoing innovation of the department. This new role will support the development of the department’s mission and strategies, delivering important operational projects, increasing efficiencies and effectiveness, and deploying best-in-class practices and tools. You will report to the Chief Counsel for Finance, Governance & Compliance, and also partner with the General Counsel and other members of the department’s leadership team. About the Job Strategic planning • Develop the department’s short and long-term operations plans, supporting the department’s strategies and mission • You will provide creative thinking to help identify cutting-edge strategies for increasing value and reducing outside legal spend while maintaining excellent legal representation • Implement other strategic plans as developed in partnership with the department’s leaders Finance, Budget & Metrics Management • Partner with the department’s leaders, as well as the Finance, IT and Procurement departments to help manage the department’s annual financial operating plan and budget • You will improve data integrity and reporting capacities; identify, collect, and report on essential performance indicators and metrics on a global basis • Improve the value of budget data; help determine and create the financial reports most beneficial to department leadership and teams Legal Technology Solutions • Manage the department’s IT portfolio and strategy, developed with department leaders • Develop, evaluate, implement and support technology solutions throughout the department • Stay up-to-date on legal tech; communicate tech opportunities to the department Outside Counsel and Legal Vendor Management • Lead the law firm and third-party vendor management programs with the aim of reducing spend, maximizing value, and improving predictability; edit and enforce outside counsel billing guidelines; create processes to monitor pricing and performance • Establish and manage strategic and preferred provider panels for each practice group/region • Negotiate creative fee arrangements with outside counsel firms and vendors; conduct RFP’s if appropriate; Communication and Administration • Develop the department’s strategic communications plan; measure the effectiveness and relevance of programs • Use forums and tools to connect department members at locations around the world • Collaborate with the Corporate Affairs Department on specific department strategies and projects (presentations, town hall meetings, leadership team meetings, global legal summit planning, etc.) About You:• Bachelor’s Degree required preferably in Business, Finance, Information Technology; advanced degree preferred. • At least 5+ years of total work experience in operations or law firm management, specifically in legal operations and billing; 7-10+ years of relevant experience preferred • You will manage individuals, lead a complex function and guide employee engagement in a large, global organization • Ability to build relationships both within a team and across external departments • You will manage multiple workstreams and priorities • You have an in-depth understanding of law firm billing, pricing and compensation practices • Understanding of litigation/transaction matter lifecycles, and legal delivery • Preferred expertise with LegalTracker ebilling software and Apttus LOCATION1155 Battery St. San Francisco, CA, 94111FULL TIME/PART TIMEFull time
