We are looking for an individual who will play a key role in supporting the Company’s long-standing culture of integrity and corporate responsibility through the day-to-day management of essential corporate ethics and compliance programs and initiatives. The Senior Manager of the Company’s ethics and compliance program will manage key, high visibility and global corporate compliance programs with a focus on the Worldwide Code of Business Conduct (the “Code”), third-party compliance and risk management, compliance training, conflicts of interest, and the continued enhancement of an ethical corporate culture. At Levi Strauss & Co., the compliance function is an independent and objective body (within the greater legal department), responsible for ensuring that the Company’s Code, ethical culture, and corporate reputation remain top of mind, and that employees engage in ethical business practices in compliance with relevant laws and the Company’s policies, procedures, and controls. This position will report to the Company’s Senior Director of Global Ethics & Compliance. Key Responsibilities • Support periodic global compliance program assessments and assist with annual prioritization of the Company’s global compliance initiatives • Support the day-to-day operation of the Company’s ethics and compliance program, including the periodic review and revision of compliance policies and procedures • In collaboration with key stakeholders, manage the Company’s third-party compliance and risk initiative; evaluate key potential risk areas, identify and support the implementation of automated solutions/technology, and liaise with others to implement an effective enterprise-wide global third-party risk and compliance platform • Review, monitor and manage the Company’s Ethics & Compliance Reportline; refer matters to subject matter experts as appropriate, or assist with internal investigations as needed • Contribute to and support the development of quarterly metrics and reports provided to the Chief Compliance Officer, General Counsel, and Board of Directors (Audit Committee) regarding compliance program initiatives, quarterly highlights and any identified risk areas • Develop and support the delivery of compliance-related training and communications to a diverse, global work force; manage the integration of compliance-related training into the Company’s learning management system • Frequently collaborate with other departments to drive compliance-focused initiatives and ensure cross-functional information sharing and collaboration; functions may include Legal, HR/Employee Relations, Sourcing/Supply Chain, Corporate Security, Finance, Internal Audit, Procurement, Trade Compliance, and IT • Champion the Company’s ethical culture and core values across all functions and geographies; demonstrate personal integrity, respect and teamwork in the performance of all job duties • Role may require occasional U.S. and international travel, as requested Experience • Bachelor’s degree required; law degree or graduate level business degree desirable, but not required • Seven years of experience in a corporate ethics and compliance role (or similar experience) • In-house corporate ethics and compliance or legal experience strongly preferred • Minimum of 3 years of exposure to a global business strongly preferred • Experience with a multi-national (global) company focused on one or more of these areas is desirable: retail, legal, audit, supply chain compliance Skills • Familiarity with third party compliance management programs, risk ranking / escalation, and rapid identification of third-party risk preferred • Exposure to global compliance training initiatives (content development and/or learning management system platforms) • Technical proficiency or exposure to compliance-focused software solutions, including EthicsPoint, or similar investigation databases/software • Experience conducting, coordinating and tracking internal investigations • Strong team-based orientation along with ability to operate collaboratively in a fast-paced environment • Able to operate and influence strategically, while delivering results • Strong problem solving, critical analysis and effective project management skills • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the aptitude to master new data integration or cloud-based technology solutions intended to automate the Company’s compliance efforts and metrics • Able to identify and rapidly escalate complex compliance concerns and offer potential solutions to legal/compliance colleagues, and business leadership • Able to apply a practical and reasonable approach to compliance issues and initiatives, while maintaining a high standard of integrity The Company’s policy is to provide equal opportunity to all persons without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, citizenship, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, marital status, Vietnam era/disabled veteran status, physical or mental disability, or other protected classes covered by applicable law.
