The Director, Corporate Communications is essential to our success: you will be responsible for helping to position Levi Strauss & Co. as one of the apparel industry’s top-performing companies and one of the best-performing companies in any industry. You will lead the strategy for all business and financial communications, including our potential IPO, shape storytelling around the company’s strategic growth drivers, and work directly with our senior executives including our CEO and CFO to advise on communications. We are seeking a strategic advisor and battle-tested media relations expert who can help us enhance and protect LS&Co.’s reputation and shape the future of one of America’s most iconic companies. About the Job: • Lead LS&Co.’s business and financial communications strategy• Develop and execute short- and long-term corporate media strategies to raise LS&Co.’s profile and strengthen reputation among the business community. • Translate company strategy into compelling messages to proactively drive the company’s “financial brand” in key markets; leverage messaging to bring business community’s attention to areas of differentiation and competitive advantage. • Build communications strategy and messaging platform for our chief financial officer and other key executives; Interface regularly with the CFO and senior management to maintain understanding of corporate strategy in support of external communications. • Raise LS&Co.’s profile among key business and financial audiences via feature stories, external forums and day-to-day media relations, focusing on company growth, business performance and rich heritage. • Lead media relations and communications for key financial events and investor matters, including: quarterly earnings, annual shareholder meeting, investor days, annual report, disclosures and filings. • Work hand-in-hand with investor relations, legal and corporate affairs. • Enhance and Protect LS&Co.’s reputation and drive corporate thought leadership • Build and manage relationships with key industry and business media and other external stakeholder groups. • Partner with direct-to-consumer, regional, and brand teams to shape proactive media strategies and message platforms that drive thought leadership; Deliver actionable and cohesive storytelling toolkits to maximize exposure and impact of proactive communications programs globally. • Advise and coach spokespersons to enhance their storytelling skills and impact; prepare senior management for media interviews and public events and announcements. • Support reactive media efforts and manage potential and actual unfolding media issues and crises when needed to minimize reputational impact. • Serve as a company spokesperson. • Monitor message pull-through and measure message effectiveness and impact. • Manage external vendors, including agency resources. About You • University Degree with at least eight years of experience in external communications and media relations, including financial communications • Excellent communications skills (verbal, presentation and impeccable written) • Expertise in media relations and high comfort level working with the media for both proactive and reactive issues • Strong influencing, interpersonal and negotiation skills • Sound judgment in a fast-paced environment; Strategic, critical and creative thinking skills • Strong business acumen and a good knowledge of current affairs • Professional posture and foresight; Proven experience in effectively communicating with top-level executives and outside thought leaders • Demonstrated ability to present complex business ideas, strategies and results succinctly and persuasively at the senior executive level • Financial literacy and knowledge of core business and financial metrics • Business literacy and understanding of apparel industry news and trends to identify opportunities for proactive storytelling • Understanding of communications measurement • Corporate communications experience in a large multi-national company or a global brand; experience at a public company preferable • Mix of agency and in-house experience preferable • IPO and/or M&A experience preferable We put a lot of thought into our programs to provide you with a benefits package that matters.
