JOB DESCRIPTION
A company doesn’t last more than 160 years by standing still. It endures and thrives by reinventing itself, striving to delight its consumers, winning in the marketplace, and by remaining true to its values. We employ more than 17,000 people around the world – supporting great brands, including Levi’s®, Dockers® and Denizen®. Our employees are committed to progress, authenticity and collaboration.

Position Overview:

Our founder, Levi Strauss, was committed to integrity, philanthropy and good corporate citizenship, an approach we call “profits through principles.” Throughout our history, the descendants of Levi Strauss—our family shareholders—have continued to champion these values, and this has been a key ingredient to our success.

Fostering strong ties between the family and the company through shareholder engagement is critical to ensuring that LS&Co. maintains and enhances its leadership in its values-driven approach to business success. Supporting this engagement is especially important following LS&Co.’s recent IPO given that the family will continue to control shareholder votes for the foreseeable future. The Director of Family Shareholder Engagement will be the steward of the bond between the family shareholders and the company.

A candidate who is successful in this role will build deep trust and credibility with both family members and management. He or she will leverage this trust to champion new initiatives that strengthen the mutual feeling of connectedness between the family and the company and create pathways that nurture engagement for all current and future generations of family shareholders. Acting as the official liaison between management and the family, this will be a highly visible position and will require professionalism, creativity, discretion, and skill in interacting with company leaders and key constituencies.

This position will be situated within our Corporate Legal Department and will have a dual reporting relationship to our Chief Executive Officer and our Chief Counsel, Finance, Governance and Compliance.  Ultimately, the individual hired for this role will be evaluated on the extent to which he/she informs and engages family shareholders. Accordingly, the Family Council will provide periodic feedback to the CEO and Chief Counsel on his/her performance.

! Closely coordinate with the company’s Investor Relations team regarding general shareholder communications
! Receive and distill feedback from family shareholders for presentation to management and/or the company’s board of directors
