In this role as the Senior Merchant for kids, you will inform and assist in developing a consumer and market relevant, category-leading product leveraging the customer, trends and competitive intelligence that delivers against financial and brand equity goals. You will report to the the Merchandising Director, Accessories and Licensed Categories.
More specifically, in this role, you will:
! Partner with the licensee to develop a compelling and consistent global product offering for a category or segment, aligned with big ideas of the brand
! Interpret and incorporate local brief requirements in developing a global brief to the licensee partner
! Create an assortment strategy based on analysis of both the Levi's and competitor market place while considering global and local requirements
! Influence other internal and external partners around strategic vision with your communication skills
! Partner with the director on global strategy and the long range category plan
! Provide input to the brand's annual business plan
! Participate and present in monthly and quarterly business review meetings and update the licensee partner on product sales
! Monitor and share competitor trends including pricing strategies for different markets
! Mentor and potentially manage one or more coordinator, associate or merchant
! Partner with global merchants for alignment and buyer merchant leads to gain specific geographic expertise
! Engage and educate affiliates to ensure understanding of merchandising recommendations and develop insights into the local markets
Qualifications:
! Bachelor's degree in related discipline (8+ years combined college education and work experience may be substituted for a degree)
! Minimum 5 years direct merchandising experience working at an apparel manufacturer, retailer or marketer
! Minimum 3 years in a management role with responsibility for team leadership and development
! In-depth knowledge of merchandising and design trends in the global marketplace
! Knowledge of garment design and construction
! Knowledge of cost of goods
! Communication skills are key including presentation, influence and negotiation
! Can mentor and train others
! Recognized as a category expert
! Global experience is highly preferred
