GoPro is seeking a candidate for the Lead Mechanical Engineer Camera Product Architecture role. This position will be responsible for developing innovative mechanical design solutions for GoPro capture devices and related accessories. This role will drive the validation of concepts via early analysis, prototyping, and testing. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will work with crossfunctional teams to ensure that all requirements are balanced to achieve optimized products for our customers. In addition, the Lead Mechanical Engineer/Architect will work closely with internal and external partners to technically define designs and ensure that all product and project requirements are met. What You Will Do
Responsible for the overall design, analysis, documentation and functional validation of mechanical components and assemblies
Support the creation of the mechanical architecture for new products and related accessories
Provide technical oversight to the Product Design team to inspire innovation and drive databased engineering decisions
Provide technical data to Product Definition and Industrial Design team for tradeoff analysis during early development
Work with Mounts and Accessories teams to define concepts and validate the ecosystem products that complement our capture devices
Validate initial designs via analysis, prototyping, and testing to increase the efficiency of our development process
Work with Quality Assurance and Test Engineering to define and implement validation testing plans and ensure products meet reliability requirements
Work with Thermal Engineering to ensure products meet operational and regulatory/safety requirements
Interface with Program Management to ensure that cost, schedule, and performance targets are achieved
Act as the primary Product Design interface cross functional teams (i.e. ID, Product Definition, QA, Operations, EE, Audio, RF/Antenna, suppliers and partners, etc.)
Ensure successful development of mechanical tooling and production part qualification (i.e. first article inspections, manufacturing process capabilities (Cp/Cpk), (GR&R), material certifications, etc.)
Collaborate with Operations and Quality teams to audit mechanical suppliers and external partners
Work with cross functional teams to improve processes and increase business efficiency
Protect company intellectual property by submitting patent applications

Skills Were Stoked About
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, M.S. degree preferred
Experience in the development of consumer electronics rugged & waterproof products, preferably in handheld, mobile and wireless devices
10+ years of relevant experience in Mechanical or Product Design and Development
Advance knowledge and experience using CAD solid modeling and assembly creation hands on experience in using FEA tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus or equivalent
Strong knowledge of geometric dimension and tolerance and performing statistical tolerance analysis
Experience with Asia ODM partners and manufacturing suppliers
Ability to travel to global manufacturing sites
Ability to work crossfunctionally and foster collaboration with internal teams
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
Experience in sports products is a plus
Demonstrated pride and ownership in designs produced
