As a Senior Thermal Engineer at GoPro, youll ensure that our world-class action cameras perform as expected in temperature extremes. Youll work side by side with our Designers and Engineers to help GoPro continue to push the envelope on whats possible for ruggedized, small form factor performance.
Design, simulate, and validate experimentally the thermal architecture of cameras and related ecosystem products
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary cross-functional team to develop optimal product architectures to meet all product requirements
Optimize thermal solutions through the use of CFD simulation while minimizing product cost
Work with external partners to architect, model, and simulate complex SOC components for optimized thermal performance
Specify and develop guidelines for thermal design best practices
Drive the thermal architecture while completing trade-off studies and considering all aspects of the product
Communicate power, thermal, and mechanical requirements to the team
Design, manage, and execute thermal test plans to validate the thermal design
Develop thermal algorithms to be integrated into the product firmware for thermal management
Design, develop, and validate new thermal capabilities to be incorporated in future products
Skills Were Stoked About
BSME required, MS Preferred
8 years of experience with detailed thermal analysis and design; at least 4 within the consumer electronics industry
Skilled in CFD analysis (FloTHERM, FloTHERM XT) with the ability to model complex systems efficiently
Knowledge of fluid dynamics and heat transfer theory
Experience in developing and, modeling, simulating at both chip and system level
OEM and factory DOE experience
Extensive familiarity with the specification and application of passive and active thermal management hardware, including heat sinks, spreaders, TIMs, and heat pipes
Experience negotiating thermal and related mechanical and electrical product requirements
Skilled in performing thermal feasibility studies; developing and contributing to conceptual designs that meet system requirements
Structural and Modal analysis and FEA simulation experience highly valued
Skilled in preparing and reviewing test plans, executing tests as well as supervise testing
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Good interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Strong written and verbal communicating skills
