As a highly consumer-centric and data-driven organization, GoPro has an incredible opportunity for a UX Researcher with a passion for photo and video technology, a burning curiosity about human behavior, and significant experience in consumer electronics research. This role will conduct UX research to generate and explore new ideas as well as to evaluate and optimize existing products and features for both hardware and software. While acting as an essential part of the overall Product team, this role will report into the larger Insights and Analytics department.
Responsibilities
Work cross-functionally with many stakeholders including product management, data science, design, engineering, and marketing to identify and prioritize knowledge gaps in our understanding
Design and execute research that closes those knowledge gaps, using a wide variety of methods and interpreting analysis through the lens of business impact, UX, and social science
Conduct up-front generative product opportunity research, including ethnographic studies
Conduct in-lab and field usability evaluation of products & prototypes
Moderate 1:1 usability studies
Manage recruiting and logistics for qualitative projects
Generate insights that shape how product teams think about medium and long-term product strategy
Generate insights that both fuel ideation and evaluate designs
Communicate insights in creative and compelling ways
Ability to ask, as well as answer, meaningful and impactful questions
Act as a thought leader in the domain of research, while advocating for people who use our products
Skills Were Stoked About
Bachelors in Design, Human Factors, HCI, Cognitive Psychology or a related field
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Master in Ergonomics, Human Computer Interaction, Information Science, Political Sciences, Psychology, or Social Psychology preferred.
3 + years ofUXprofessional research experience
Career emphasis on consumer devices, rather than on enterprise, etc.
Extensive experience moderating 1:1 usability sessions
Extensive experience in field ethnography
Demonstrated experience creating new test methods/setups to address the needs of unusual/challenging tests
Experience researching mobile consumer devices
Experience creating low-fidelity rapid interactive prototypes
