We are looking for a Principal Camera Product Manager to define and own the business for a future camera from GoPro. This position will assess the market and customer needs to help GoPro deliver the easiest way for all customers to capture amazing content, no matter their skillset. This person will create a vision that touches the entire user journey, spanning camera hardware, camera software, accessories, app and cloud, all based on market understanding and customer-driven data.
The right candidate will have years of experience in bringing compelling consumer electronics devices into the world as a product leader. They are passionate about their customers and about using data to guide their definitions to delight those customers. They have a long history of building strong relationships working closely with Engineering, ID, UX, QA, IQ, Legal, Operations, and Sales to drive their vision into a successful cadence of releases for our customers. Lastly, they have experience as the business owner of their products, experienced in making hard tradeoffs in cost and effort against the vision they had crafted for the customer.
Responsibilities
Be the product and business owner of a GoPro camera through its entire lifecycle, from conceptual definition, through development, launch, and sustaining until its end of life.
Craft and present the product story and requirements to executive staff, internal teams and external channel partners.
Be the customer advocate, defining a detailed and compelling feature set for the camera built on user, market and competitive data wherever possible.
Build strong relationship with a wide range of cross-functional teams (including Program Management, Engineering, ID, UX, QA, Legal, Operations, Finance, and Image Quality) in order to collaborate across the company to successfully launch a product.
Triage bugs, manage cost, and evaluate product tradeoffs to bring product to market on time that meets our business goals.
Track performance metrics, reviews, customer feedback, and bugs, releasing necessary fixes and feature improvements as needed until the cameras end of life.
Skills Were Stoked About
Bachelors degree in a technical field, or equivalent work experience. MBA preferred.
8+ years of product management experience in mass market consumer electronics, ideally camera or imaging related.
Creative soft skills to be able to come up with new and disruptive features, crafting them into a compelling product story.
Outstanding written skills in documenting requirements, creating effective and compelling presentations, and crafting roadmaps.
Proven ability to clearly and confidently articulate their position in stressful environments including large audiences, executive staff, or cross functional meetings.
Experience owning the P&L and making hard cost tradeoffs to hit key business goals for a successful product.
Experience in JIRA and Confluence for product requirements, stories, and bug triage.
Experience working with both Agile and waterfall product development methodologies
Some travel is required. Examples include meetings with remote GoPro teams, potential partners/customers, trade shows, and launch events.
