Were looking for a passionate, well-rounded, kickass copy editor to join the GoPro Creative team. The Copy Editor will help bring the beloved GoPro brand, and its products, to life across a variety of mediums. We want someone who notices everything and loves taking copy from first edit to final release.
What You Will Do
Edit and proofread copy for a wide variety of communications, including the web, emails, retailer assets, packaging, user manuals, video scripts, advertising and more.
Do developmental editing to ensure that product copy is accurate, well-positioned and differentiated.
Correct errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, etc.
Ensure that copy style, trademark attributions and legal notes are consistent/correct across all marketing materials.
Help ensure that copy is on brand and the right tone is used for the audience.
Help ensure that copy is ready for translation.
Learn the GoPro product ecosystem and ensure that its accurately presented in marketing materials.
Reach out to copywriters/stakeholders to resolve queries.
Ensure that copy is correctly set in layout; check type formatting, word and line breaks, spacing, etc.
Work closely with the copy team, project managers and designers to keep projects on track.
Work with the copy manager to maintain the GoPro copy style guide.
Assist in updating copy assets and maintaining copy resources.
Assist with copywriting when needed.
Skills + Experience Were Stoked About
3+ years of copy-editing experience, preferably for a creative or consumer brand.
Bachelors degree in English, journalism, advertising, marketing or communications preferred.
Editorial certificate or coursework preferred.
Familiar with AP Style butnot afraid to break the rules in the interest of maintaining a conversational voice and tone.
Willing to forgo the Oxford comma (seriously).
Able to understand and adopt brand and copy style guides.
Can handle multiple projects with confidence and keep the positive vibes flowing in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Self-motivated with strong attention to detail. A good sense of humor is a massive plus.
Proficient in using Track Changes in Word, Adobe Acrobat markup tools, Adobe InCopy, Dropbox Paper, basic features in Excel, Microsoft Outlook and project management platforms.
Must work on-site at our San Mateo, CA office. (Tasty snacks and beverages on tap, among other perks.)
