Job Description
As Director of Product Development, you will work in collaboration with Executive management and Sales and be responsible for articulating the product vision, development roadmap, and commercialization of all product. This includes periodic updating of current product based on market feedback and evolution of business objectives. You will have accountability for all phases of the development lifecycle, from initial concept through to product finalization while maintaining high-quality standards and expectations.

The successful candidate will be very familiar with trends within the technical cycling apparel, triathlon, and endurance training categories and able to design products to establish Jakroo as a leading-edge custom clothing supplier within those domains. The candidate will be familiar with technical fabrics and the suppliers, have a sound understanding of patterning and the custom sublimation process.

Job Scope & Responsibilities

• Create, manage and maintain technical specs from initial concept phase through to prototype samples and final production and ensure the timely and accurate delivery of information across the organization.
• Resolve potential concerns regarding construction, material, fit and wear or cost prior to design tech package hand-off.
• Ensure that all materials, processes, prototypes and development samples are fully tested to meet Jakroo’s quality standards.
• Act as primary point of contact to the Pattern and Sourcing teams at our factory in Beijing.
• Ensure seasonal costing targets are met, by collaborating with Sourcing and Design.
• Be a resource for Production and Quality as questions and problems arise throughout the process.

• Experience developing technical cycling and/or triathlon apparel required.
• Knowledge of apparel construction, material construction, and properties, costing, pattern making, sublimation, textile manufacturing.
• Good understanding of product creation process from inception through production
• Strong change management and problem-solving skills
• Ability to clearly articulate procedures and instructions.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in an efficient manner
• Ability to network and utilize internal and external resources.
• Ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
• Travel 10-15%

• Bachelor’s degree in apparel/textile design, technology, merchandising, engineering, industrial engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of related experience.
