Senior Technical Designer:
Our team is rapidly growing and Aether is looking for an awesome senior technical designer who’s an expert in executing a designer’s vision. From initial sketch, to first sample thru production we need someone with great attention to detail and a master of fit & garment construction. This position requires someone very organized, can maintain strict deadlines, has excellent communication skills and ability to work with overseas factories.

Our tech team is the link between the design and production department to ensure that all designs translate to amazing garments. We are looking for a full-time, super-efficient, hard-working, seasoned leader who will make sure our clothes look and fit great and are made at the highest level of quality standards to back up our lifetime warranty. The role includes leading the fit process from initial specs through PPS, generating very clear measurements of each fit, creating detailed tech packs, and working closely with our design and development departments.

• Ability to execute
• Can create full detail tech packs
• Pattern correction
• Garment construction (build to last)
• Background required in knits, woven sportswear (especially in causal bottoms) and interior finish.
• Production Fitting
• Artwork placement
• Photoshop
• Illustrator
• Excel
• WFX (a plus)

What You’ll Do:
• Work closely with design and product development to ensure that designs are translated correctly
• Manage fit sessions by fitting samples on live model, recording comments and communicating with team
• Take and track notes to ensure final fit, quality and construction meets standards; assist in communication with vendors and factory manager on standards
• Create thorough tech packs with sketches, complete construction details, and key measurements
• Follow grade rules, cross-check pattern, production specs, and BOM before release to marking/grading
• Track and monitor execution to companies master calendar; manage fit schedule, track fit samples; keep archive of samples, notes, trims, etc
• Some in-house pattern work
• Help with some warranty questions and repairs

Job Requirements

What You’ll Need:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 7-10+ years experience in technical design of apparel or relevant training
• Extreme attention to detail and accuracy, as well as ability to prioritize and make quick decisions
• Superior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team oriented; highly detail oriented and meticulous
• Thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Extremely honest and trustworthy with highest integrity
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, balance creativity with technical capability, and interpret design sketches for tech packs
• Knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, silhouettes, color ways, sewing techniques, fabrication and trim; familiarity with overseas manufacturing
